"Men are generally more careful of the breed of their cattle and horses than of their children."

The main business is sex and death."

Sebastian walked into the court, and all eyes turned to him. Self-consciously he smoothed his tuxedo, and casually remarked, "Well, I see the gang's all here." He turned to his brother with an indignant sniff. "Really Prospero, next time you send that hag of a water sprite after me...I'm going to send her back to you in little pieces." Sebastian peered into the giant rip in the floor's surface, and gazed at Hades. "Redecorating? Always thought this place needed a nice fountain."
Roarke glared at his brother, furious. "You're the one who started this."
Sebastian laughed. "And you're surprised." He sighed, and sat against the edge of the table. "I heard that Zeus was inclined to toss any non-Olympians into the pit with the Titans, and decided to take some affirmative action. You should have had the same idea...otherwise you wouldn't have been stuck on that island."
Ariel remarked softly in Roarke's ear, "And I thought MY relatives were bad..."
His answering smile was wan, but her comment calmed his temper somewhat. "So you decided to turn us in. Typical: how very typical of you."
"Glad to be of amusement for you then," he answered back.
Roarke frowned. "Then why didn't Hades take me?" He turned to the God in question.
Hades shrugged eloquently, not paying attention to them, but suddenly noticing a hangnail on his finger. He brushed it, and the hangnail disappeared. He looked up at them. "Zeus thought Sebastian turning you in, was just more proof that Chronos' brats deserved to be locked away. He told me to take Sebastian and Antonia-"
"Call me Skye," she invited, giving the Lord of the Underworld a brilliant smile.
Hades winked at her, and continued. "Actually he said take Sebastian and one other, and leave one behind to feel guilty about it for eternity. Well, even then, Antonia -" He turned to her. "- Skye was such a pretty thing...I couldn't let her feel guilty for eternity..."
Skye beamed.
Hades looked over at Roarke. "Actually you were such a 'doom and gloom' teenager -- it seemed almost appropriate."
Off in the corner, out of the way: Viola held Iris, as Halli seemed firmly attracted to her side not willing to go anywhere. Both her younger sisters seemed scared at this sudden mysterious expression of anger among the adults, but to Viola-it seemed to be starting something...
Roarke cleared his throat, not buying the story exactly as told. "You came to me..."
"What you didn't think I'd look for a better deal?" asked Hades. "I thought, if I managed it rightly, I could, uh, save, yes, save all three of you from any eternal guilt. By bargaining with you."
"Save us?" Roarke's skepticism showed.
Hades looked upward and groaned, annoyed. "How was I suppose to know that you would go nuts when I actually got your kids, grab your third, and get ship wrecked on Hecate's island. It's not my fault. I didn't try to kill you. I don't do that sort of thing."
Roarke let the matter drop for the moment and turned back to Sebastian. "You have been the instrument of Zeus's curse upon our family. Do you know what I've suffered because of you? If I could kill you..."
He stopped when Ariel placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Roarke, don't become like him. If you do, he still wins." She held his face in her hands, so that their faces were inches apart. "What's important is getting your children back. Making a family."
Roarke's face softened, and he touched her cheek lovingly before stepping aside to face Sebastian once more. "I accept your explanation of selfishness in going to Zeus in the first place, but I want to know...why did you want Iris?"
Sebastian frowned. "Why not? You've survived everything. You've cheated death a number of times. You're gonna get your kids back. You're getting Miranda back," he said pointing to Ariel.
Ariel huffed, annoyed. "Thanks for ruining the surprise."
"That doesn't answer his question, Sebastian," spoke up Viola.
All eyes turned to her.
High above...
Angel smiled. "Now we're getting somewhere."
"I thought you weren't interested," questioned Michael.
Angel turned and smirked. "As long as this entire thing means I stay up here and out of Tarturus, I'm fine with it."
Michael frowned.
Viola looked towards Sebastian. "You didn't answer his question. I never understood this when I was a sprite: Why do people want to posses the one thing that they hate more then life itself?" She handed Iris over to Halli, and got up. She walked towards him, keeping her eyes on him. "You want Iris dead, because you're a selfish bastard: Simple. You're a danger to her, and as long as you live...you will always be after Prospero for something." She stopped inches from Sebastian, so close to him that she could feel his breath as he looked down at her. Viola could also hear Roarke telling her to back away from him...almost pleading, but something was telling her not to. She looked up at her Uncle Sebastian, smiling. "I can't believe my soul saved your worthless hide."
"Well, we can't all have good taste," rebuked Sebastian.
Roarke had a bad feeling about the entire encounter. "Viola, walk away from him." She wasn't hearing him...worse then her mother, he thought.
Viola smirked at him. "True, we can't all have good taste, but I'm suddenly remembering my father and his sister can't as well."
"Oh for gods sake, girl. Spit it out," expressed Sebastian.
Viola turned and smiled at Roarke. "Everything is gonna be fine."
"What do you mean?" he asked, alarmed at her serene visage.
She just smiled, and turned back to Sebastian. "Uncle, the only person is this entire room who can kill you...is me."
Seb smiled a little. "But if I die...you do as well."
She took his face into her hands, and said "Sweety, right now...I couldn't care less." Viola gave him a quick peck on the cheek, and pushed him over the side, she turned around, made a bow to Hades, and did a back flip into the Tartrus.
The shock didn't register for a couple of seconds, until Ariel actually screamed. Roarke ran to the edge, as did Hades but neither could see the pair. "Wow...I didn't expect her to do that. He isn't getting out of there...no matter how much Dena begs this time," spoke Hades, shaking his head.
Roarke continued to look at the pit, breathless. "Will it ever end?" he yelled at the pit.
Skye cleared her throat. "Are we done with the family tragedy bit yet? Because there is a case being heard here."
Chryse jumped up, "Your honor. I request that Sebastian's statements be recorded as testimony, and considering he's...dead, it's not like he's gonna contest them."
Skye frowned. "That's highly irregular."
"I protest!" Hades declared, walking back to the podium.
"You do?" Skye asked.
"Well. Not really," he answered, gazing into her eyes.
Ariel suddenly turned to Skye. "The case? You're worried about the CASE? Viola just threw herself into the Underworld and you're worried about the CASE? This is nuts." Without another word, Ariel gracefully dove into the crack in the floor.
Michael stood up from the roof's edge. "Ok...that does it."
Everyone looked up to see the two Elysian spirits, as they floated to the floor.
Angel was in a panic. "You never said anything about Ariel sacrificing herself."
"She can't do that," remarked Michael.
"Well, she just did it," returned Angel, shock making her more sarcastic.
Michael turned to her, winked, and dove into Tarturus himself, not hearing Angel yelling his name loudly.
Angel turned around, and looked at Roarke. "That's it. I'm through working with archangels. It never fails that I'll end up in Hell."
A hand reached out from the ground, grabbing her ankle. She looked down at Azrael, and shot with the Albatross fire. "Told you that I wouldn't date you the last time."
Suddenly the ground erupted with violent quakes. Angel grabbed Roarke's arm before he fell in himself. Roarke looked up at Hades, who had a big smile on his face.
The god smirked. "Hey, I always love two for 1 deals, and this way I won't even get on ya about wanting Miranda back either." He placed a new cigar in his mouth and disappeared into a puff of smoke.
Instantly the ground began to seal.
"I wonder if we can get any vacation time out of this deal," remarked Fisher.
Clia hissed, and threw a heavy book at him.
Angel picked a scared Iris up on her hip, and looked at Halli. "Sweetie, let me use your ball to keep the Underworld open."
"But I'm scared," cried Halli.
Angel smiled. "I'm scared too."
A loud screech followed by several others: Angel looked at the rising steam and growing sounds with concern: she pushed both kids over to Chyrse.
"Do I look like I know what to do with kids?" she asked.
Angel huffed. "You've watched lawyers on TV but not mothers? Wing it." She pushed the trio into an unseen door, and ran back to Roarke. "That's it. I quit," she yelled at him. "He never said anything about Furies. I'm going back to Fantasy Island to tend bar. No Furies come to eat you there, and you don't get lied to by Guardians of Light either."
Angel spun around, waving her fist at the air and shouting, "Metatron, I quit. I want to transfer back to Andrew's department!"
Roarke grabbed her wildly waving arm. "Your future employment is irrelevant now. What are we going to do?"
Angel ran over to Viola's pack and grabbed the Oath Rod. "Toss this," she said, shoving it into his hands.
"What?" he said, almost disgusted at the sight of the thing.
"You heard me: toss the blasted thing into the Underworld, and hopefully Viola will grab it. Then this entire nightmare will be over. Everyone will go back to their normal lives. Case closed."
Angel tossed a look over towards Skye and Hermes, but they had disappeared as well. "Great time for your sister to vanish...you sure she's yours to begin with."
At that point, a giant three-fingered bird's claw grabbed over the edge of the tear. Angel screamed and fell backwards, as the Fury emerged from the Underworld.
Roarke saw the scene and grew even more confused as what to do. "If Viola touches this rod, she will be condemned to Fantasy Island, as I was. I can't do that to her. I can't do what her mother did to me," he yelled above the roar of the Fury.
Angel was getting upset. She didn't want to be here, and especially she really didn't like the look of the Fury who was inching near her. "Think of it as the last thing you'll ever do for your kid. Sebastian is no longer going to bother you. He's in Hell. He's never getting out, but if Viola has any chance of coming out of there... she's gonna need that lousy piece of wood."
Suddenly another angel appeared, standing on the table. "And to think I used to hang around this place in the younger days," he expressed in a crisp accent.

Metatron |
"Always thought the Egyptians had it right with that Cat protecting the Afterlife and all," Metatron remarked. The ground started to swell, and the room was engulfed in heat. A giant roar was heard, as an unseen door was closed.
"That would be Michael having caught your little nymph," commented Metatron. He turned to Roarke, "Angel's right." He jumped off the table, walked over to Angel, and helped her to her feet. "It is just a lousy piece of wood. You'll scream when you hear who actually made 'the Oath Rod' ~ the story' quite hilarious actually. So toss it already, and we'll all go out for a nice drink afterwards."
He turned to Angel. "How many times have I told you to stop hanging out Archangels? You always end up nearly in Hell, or eaten by a Fury."
Angel kept a hold of his arm. "I'm not totally into servitude, yet." She looked back at Roarke, and saw his horrified expression. "It's just a piece of wood."
Roarke looked at the frightened girl. He took the rod, which had seemed to end his life all those years ago. It was still heavy, and bore the marks from when he gripped it, suddenly realizing that Scathach had lied to him. She ended his life with that rod, and now he was gonna use it to save their daughter...
"Order and Obedience be damned...I want my child," he said, and dropped the rod into the pit. Suddenly, he disappeared into a golden curtain.
Angel leaned over to Metatron. "By the way, can I transfer back to Andrew's department?"
Metron shook his head. "Don't think so. He's still upset with you for that '10 plagues of Egypt' thing."
She huffed. "I was following orders."
Metatron rolled his eyes, annoyed. "Well, isn't that original! So was Oliver North, and he's not going to get a transfer to Andrew's department either."
At that moment, they heard "Hey, watch where you're throwing things up there?" The rod was tossed back up without the red crystal.
Metatron looked over the edge. "Well, then watch where you have your head," and he tossed it back in. He looked at Angel, and they both disappeared.
Skye grabbed the desk, as the first bullet from Carmine Kane's gun entered her shoulder. She grasped the desk in front of her, and looked at him in shock. At that moment, her door flew open, and a single gunshot rang out. Kane fell to the floor, and the room was suddenly filled with uniformed cops.
"Skye," she heard a familiar voice cry out. She saw a figure rush to her side. Her mind register him as Logan, the detective who always seem to be contradicting her...but he sure looked like Hades. She fell backwards, but he caught her before she hit the floor. Looking up into his concerned eyes, she joked, "When I said that I wanted us to get together...I didn't mean this."
"Babe, I know," he said with a smirk.
Roarke walked through the golden curtain into his office. Everything looked normal, and in fact a little too quiet. Suddenly a baby's wail broke the silence of the moment. Roarke followed the sound to the nursery, thinking that the cries came from Iris. He pushed opened the door, and looked around.
The toddler's crib was no where around, having been replaced with a cradle. The infant in it, wailed at the top of her lungs, waving her arms about.
He walked over to the crib, and gingerly picked up the baby. She stopped crying, as soon as she saw who was there. Roarke cradled the girl, smiling silently at her. He walked over to the rocking chair, by the window, and sat down. "Now, Miranda, whatever could be the trouble?"
Miranda looked at her father, eyes filled with curiosity.
The door opened as a tired Ariel entered with a warm bottle. "Ok, Miranda. Mommy's here."
She looked up and smiled, her eyes a bit wet. "When did you get back?"
He got up and embraced her tightly, as he could manage still holding onto the baby. "I'm sorry I wasn't here for you. How did it happen?" he asked, looking at her, thankful that she was all right.
"Relatively easy. I just appeared back in my room, and there she was right beside me. Giving birth should always be that easy. What happened to Viola?"
Roarke looked startled. "She's not here? She said...they told me..." He hugged his newest daughter to his chest, surrendering her reluctantly to Ariel. "I guess we just have to wait. And hope."
