Pocket PC 2002 Chinese/Japanese and English Version Differences

These are some differences that I found between the English version and Simplified Chinese/Traditional Chinese version and Japanese version of Pocket PC 2002 on iPAQ 3870. These are just my observation and are by no means complete.

Note that the free FlashROM space available as File Storage is much smaller on the Chinese and Japanese system. Localisation requires quite a lot of memory. The font file for Simplified Chinese system, sunfon.ttf, is 4.48Mb; msming.ttf in Traditional Chinese system is 3.02Mb; msgothic.ttc in Japanese system is 4.00Mb; Compare this to tahoma.ttf which is 127Kb. Chinese and Japanese versions of iPAQ have always had at least 32Mb FlashROM since Pocket PC 2000, because the ROM images have always been bigger than 16Mb.
