Danielle ("Dusty") - Templar
Quote: "Die, Servant of the Reckoners!" (versus anything she happens to be fighting)
Description/Background: The Wasted West is a hard world to live in, especially with the Combine spreading its sphere of influence across the landscape. Town after town has fallen to the Blackhats, as those who will not yield to Throckmorton's iron rule are ground into the dust. Such a fate befell Dusty's small town; they would not give in to a Blackhat patrol, and were summarily "put to the sword". Just as the battle for the ville was winding down however, a small group of Templars en route to Boise happened upon the scene. While their arrival and fighting prowess managed to drive off the Blackhat force that had been attacking the ville, their assistance proved too late. After a thorough search, only one survivor was found - a toddler with the name "Danielle" embroidered on her jumper. The child was taken back to Boise and was raised by the Templars. As she grew older, Danielle proved to be a competent Squire, serving under many different Templars and journeying far across what used to be the mid-west. Throughout her training, she showed a growing aptitude for swordplay. The target range was another story altogether. Every time an instructor tried to teach Danielle about the operation of firearms, something would happen; guns would jam or break, ammo would prove to be defective or sometimes shots intended to hit the targets they were aimed at would mysteriously miss and hit something (or someone) else all together. It was on the target range that young Danielle got her nickname. During the demonstration of a heavy machine gun, a round misfired, exploding the gun. While no one was injured (miraculously), the explosion ripped apart the sandbag bunker the gun bipod had been resting upon, creating a huge choking cloud of sand and dust. This cloud seemed to be intensely thick around the young Squire and the "Dusty" moniker stuck. To this day, Dusty has a general mistrust of firearms and has no actual gun skills to speak of. After years of training, Dusty finally proved her worth to the cause and was officially made a Templar at the age of eighteen. Upon her knighthood, one of the Templars she had been a Squire for (and who looked upon her as the daughter he himself had lost during the war) gave her a suit of SA infantry combat armor that had been made for a "smaller sized" soldier to help ensure her survival as she furthered Simon's cause in the wasteland. Recently, Dusty's travels have brought her to the Arizona region, where she has performed her duties for a worthy ville in need of assistance called Dango. Dusty is a slight young woman (only about 5', 4"), with long sandy-blond hair and blue eyes. When wearing her full gear, she seems even smaller; a tiny young thing encased in layers of kevlar and padding. Her size and stature disguises an incredible fighting ability, however. Dusty is deathly serious about Simon's cause and her duties as a Templar, often soliloquizing at great length upon them (particularly after dispatching an enemy). She sometimes shows a tendency towards impatience, and has been known to rush into a situation before thinking all of the options through. Post Mortem Note: Dusty was slain by her own posse in a tragic (though questionable) case of mistaken identity compouded by bad luck and unfortunate judgement calls while exploring an ancient ruined cliff dwelling somewhere in Utah. Though her body was never recovered (after 15 wounds to the head, followed by an 8 story drop off a cliff into running water), its assumed she is dead.
