This figure is from Games Workshop. It is a Dark Elf Corsair. I normally wouldn't have painted this figure but it was for an online painting exhibition where everyone interprets the same miniature in thier own fasion. If you would like to check out the other entries, go to Miniature-Painting.net and then click on Visions in Color #6 Summer 2001.
One of my favorite stories is that of Beowulf. At the end of the tale a youngster named Wiglaf rushes in and kills the dragon which has bested Beowulf. This is where I got my inspiration for this figure. Wiglaf now wears the dragons hide for protection from sharp blades and from the biting cold of the north wind.
This is my first attempt at painting Non-Metalic Metals. Instead of useing shiny metalic paints to do the sword, I used only black, white and grey to give the illusion of metal.
