These photographs were taken in the Kackar
Mountains of Turkey. The Kackar Mountains are located in the northeast
part of Turkey near the Black Sea. The northern slopes of these mountains
are usually covered with fog. In fact, it rains over 230 days a year on
this side. The south slopes are much dryer since most of the moisture from
the Black Sea is blocked by the mountains. Most of these photographs were
taken on the dry side.
