It has begun! Sploogey should be coming out with the update me and him worked on soon. In it we will disclose to you oh fellow Tribesmen what it is that we are planing for our group of rabble rousers. As for me I'm going to be setting up a Manditory Pracice the 7th of January. Same time as last time. In it I will be watching all of you as you guys blast each other to smithereens. Now I will not be participating because I'm watching you (I hear some of you out there breathing a sigh of relief) and seeing how each of you preform. So if you see a little sign saing Aeon {GDU} is observing you don't worry I wont interfer and maybe give you a tip or two. So remember MANDITORY PRACTICE THE 7TH OF JANUARY. If you miss out well it will depend on the nature of the explenation (Except for you Uni. Since we know you got the baby. But if your free come on in). So please be there. As you guys probably haven't noticed is that the Squad Links are gone. I have finally been able to locate the code and purged it from the page since the Squads are dead. But look for a new one to be coming to a Tribe near you.

           PRACTICE SHMACTICE! Dec 12th. 12:01am EST

     Another fantastic failure in practices occurred this Sunday.  This may be the result of either poor turnout, low self esteem of many GDU members, or lag.  I believe it is a combination of all those things.  Sorry haven't had any updates lately, but have started a new job, which might be ending soon, and have also had some health problems, which have sucked.  So anyhow, looks like my time may be freeing up again soon.  So you will be seeing those long awaited updates soon either way.  I think we may start doing practice as a weekly thing on sunday nights.  Also, since we really don't practice at any sort of skillz, and since it wouldnt really matter if we did practice, I think we need to come up with a new name for our weekly gatherings.  So as not to mislead any new members, we have no aim here at the GDU.  We simply just exist.  Anything we do here, we do because....um...well...we just friggin do it.  We don't ask why...

       Last Sunday was fun, but we didn't have a very large turnout, so lets try again this Sunday.  Same time 9pm EST.  Hopefully we will not have as much lag this time.

Hello out there. I guess I'll be joining Sploogey on the updating front. This is a big space so I'll try to be as brief as possible. Did I tell you I was just kidding? Anywho The Squads Are Dead!!!! Long Live The Squads. I guess I'll have Sploogey do the honors of taking the old squad links down. And we will be creating a whole new squad. Just one, not no more nor less. This squad is still unnamed so If you all have an Idea for a name, let me know. Membership into this squad will be limited to 32 members, (Since Tribes 2 will support 64 people playing at once) and we will have practices so we can see where your talents lie. So let either me or Sploogey know. But all I am asking is that you let us know when you can make it for practices. And please keep to that schedual (or at least let us know ahead of time that you won't be there.). Also there will be three people commanding. One will be Squad Commander, one will be Offensive Commander, and the last will be the Defense Commander. This will allow the groups to not have to wait for the one and only commander to hand out orders. The offense and defense will be able to do as they please in setting up after the base commander lets them know what he/she wants. So please sign up and we will get this party started right.

           What Now?  Nov 26th, 9:09pm PST

     Well all this talk about the squads...hmmm.  Truth is I have no idea what we should do now, and to be honest I don't really care.  I think I'd be happy with or without squads, so long as we are all playing and dying together and most inportantly having a good time.  I  think the best thing to do would be to merge all the squads into one as Aeon had suggested.  So from this point onward, Aeon and I will be running the GDU together .  We will be "the dudes". Other than that, lets just get out there and kick some ass.  So from now on you will be seeing updates by both Aeon and  myself.  Hopefully this will help things out as far as  daily updates too.  So the merging of the SL and Def squad will probably take a few days for me and Aeon to figure out...be patient with us.

      Too Much Drama Round Here Nov 22nd

     Wow, this is just too much drama.  Aeon, buddy I got no hard feelings towards you or any of the SL guys.  I was really bummed when I heard you were leaving, of course I want all you guys to stay here.  I never wanted any of this.  Perhaps we should end the whole squad business and go back to plain old GDU.  What do you all think??  Anyhow, Uni, you handle the members page, if you wouldn't mind updating it and put all the SL guys back on it, but change everyone back just {GDU} without any squad insignias for now.  Until we figure something out.  We should not let this thing go any further.  A tribe divided cannot stand, especially a tribe as shitty as ours.  We need to stay focused.

     StormLords Split from GDU Nov 21st, 6:28pm PST

     It has come to my attention that the SL squad, led by Aeon, have decided to leave the GDU.  I do not know why this has been decided and Aeon has not mentioned any of this to me personally, I read it on their squad page.  So I have gone ahead and removed the SL page link and have also removed all SL members from the GDU.  Doesn't really bother me that this has occurred, just that it would have been nice to hear it from someone without having to read it on a post.  So good luck to the StormLords.

     Well now that the StormLords have decided to bail out on us, what does that mean for the rest of us? I have noticed lately that most of our members are not very active at all anyway.  I also have the distinct feeling that I am the only one reading these updates.  So I am gonna test my theory.  Everyone who reads this, please post something in the forum.  Anything, just say "still here" or "present".  By tomorrow evening if I have not gotten any responses, I will decide the future of this site and the GDU.  Sorry to be such an ass, but this site is a lot of work and I don't want to feel as though I am wasting my time and effort.

          STATE OF THE GDU Nov 6th 12:02am PST

      As many of you may have noticed, things have been a little quiet on the GDU front lately.  Updates are no longer coming in daily, more like every 2-3 days.  Also, squad activity has been minimal at best.  However, do not worry, the GDU is in no way dead.  The fact is, I believe that we are in a transition.  I for one am really hyped on T2 and getting extremely burned on T1.  I know many of you share this sentiment.  

     Upon the release of Tribes 2, we will be growing rapidly.  I am in negotiations to have our tribe become the official place for newbies to come and learn.  I am developing some flash/shockwave games for training and fun.  Among these are sniping games, turret op games and even mortaring and chaingun.  Development is coming along quickly.  Until the release of T2, slated for Christmas release, you will see pretty much the same level of activity.  

  Until then, start looking for the gdu servers out there.  We have been having some great mock scrimmages on them.  All gdu are invited to come and have some fun.  

   As far as the squads themselves are concerned, we have decided to make the squads unlimited in membership, and will be going ahead with the "sign up sheets" for each official match.  More on this soon.

   That about wraps up the state of the GDU as of now.  Look forward to seeing you all out there, more news and info as soon as it arrives.

       SQUADS CHANGING  Nov 2nd, 12:09 PST 

   Aeon and I had a discussion via ICQ today about the state of the squads.  Aeon expressed some thought that his squad has not been showing up to practices and  such and that he may be shutting down the StormLords Squad.   On the defenders end of it, we haven't even had an official practice yet at all.  So here is the solution I came up with.  The main problem I think is that time schedules are conflicting a lot, and in some cases they just don't add up.  So here is my proposal.  Re- open the squads and no longer limit the roster to 16 member squads.  Make it unlimited.  Next, whenever a practice is scheduled or scrimmage against another squad, a sign up sheet will be put up on the participating squads page.  Any squad members that can make it to that particular event will sign up.  This will make things much smoother I think.  Plus it will open up the squads for more to come.  And believe me, once T2 comes out, we will be getting a lot more members here.   So lets do this thing.  Haven't heard from the other squad leaders on this idea yet, but for the defenders, we are doing exactly this.  So as of now, the def squad is recruiting forever.

All the info you need is in the readme (accept how to set it up as a server skin....you should already know that by now!) It rules a server skin. Really.
