I reckon Anu either complains about her bum being fat because she actually believes that it's fat and she uses the phrase 'her bum off' because it's a good way of expressing the fact that she works very hard at that action.
Of course the better and more logical answer is that her bum tends to gain 'fat' (or so she claims) as soon as she manages to <insert verb > (most) of her bum off.

my bum is so big that even if i do everything my bum off, it still stays their <note incorrect word usage)
