Charles Grovenburg born Dec. 10,1895 (in Pawnee City or Auburn) died May
1981 in Casa Grande, Arizona. Charles retired from the post office. He was
also a sign painter and a neon sign maker. He also started the Drum and Bugle
Core of Auburn. They won state tittles in 1930, 1939, and 1953. He was the
conductor and drum major, and his picture and belongings are in the Auburn Museum.
He was married first to Nellie Faye Corners, her father's name was Frank Corners,
and her mothers maiden name is Etta Moore. Nellie was born March 12,1895 and
died June 16, 1962. Charles's second wife was June L. Apple, her fathers name
was Lindley J. Apple, her mothers maiden name was Adelia Begemann. June was born
June 1, 1918 and died July 7, 1959 in an auto accident. Charles's third wife
was Rose Anderson (probably not her maiden name). She is not buried in Auburn
and must be buried in Arizona or elsewhere. Charles and Nellie had one daughter
Mary C. born 1920 died 1996. She married an Elliott. I was told she had a
boy Jim and a girl Nancy. She was married a second time.
