OMAHA, Neb.-The UND men's basketball team shot a season-high 51.8 percent from the field and defeated Nebraska-Omaha, 72-61, in NCC men's basketball on Friday.
Sioux forwards Kyle Behrens (Sr., Hayfield, Minn.) and Tom Jacobson (Sr., Mayville, N.D.) each scored 19 points to lead all players in scoring. Sioux point guard Curtis Munlin (Sr., Mishawaka, Ind.) added 12 points. Behrens made 9-of-13 shots from the field and scored 15 of his points in the second half. Jacobson hit 8-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-5 three-pointers.
The Sioux led 30-23 at the half on the strength of 46.7 percent (14-of-30) shooting from the field. UND held Nebraska-Omaha to 33.3 percent shooting (9-of-27) from the field in the first half.
In the second half, UND built a 20-point lead (49-29) with 11:57 to play and led by 19 points (67-48) with 3:07 to play. Nebraska-Omaha outscored the Sioux 13-5 in the final three minutes to cut the final margin to 11 points.
UND committed just seven turnovers in the game and forced the Mavericks into 11 turnovers. Seth Nelson led Nebraska-Omaha with 15 points.
