Grand Forks, ND - Junior Becky Moen hit 10-of-14 field goals — including 5-of-6 3-point shots — and scored 25 points to lead the University of North Dakota to a 98-46 victory over Jamestown College at Hyslop Sports Center on Tuesday night. Moen had a career-high 28 points in the Sioux's last game, a victory over Southwest State on Saturday. Junior Jenny Boll hit 9-of-12 shots — including her first career 3-point field goal — to score 21 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds as North Dakota remained perfect on the season at 4-0.
The Sioux got off to a rocky start as they saw the 0-6 Jimmies hit four of their first six shots and take an early 10-9 lead. But after a UND timeout, the Sioux embarked on a run over the final 12:50 of the first half in which they outscored Jamestown 35-5, forcing 11 JC turnovers in the process. North Dakota took a 44-15 lead to the locker room.
Moen scored 17 of her points in the first half, Boll 14, as the Sioux shot 50.0 percent while holding the Jimmies to 27.8 percent.
The UND lead grew to as much as 50 in the second half when a Tara Zoanni basket put UND ahead 96-46.
UND used a rotation of 10 players for the game, with all 10 playing at least 13 minutes. Joining Moen and Boll in double figures were sophomore Marisa Leighton, who hit 5-of-7 shots and finished with 11 points, and junior Janel Palbicki who scored 10. Sophomore Tara Zoanni came off the bench to hit all four of her shots to finish with a career-high nine points. In addition to her scoring, Moen also dished out four assists and had a game-high four steals.
The Sioux shot 62.2 percent in the second half, 56.5 percent for the game, and outrebounded Jamestown 43 to 29. UND forced 25 turnovers and had 18 steals.
North Dakota will be back in action on Friday night when the Sioux travel to Bemidji State to face the Beavers. Game time is 7 p.m.
