Shane Says: Grow ya Moe! (taken from www.souths.com.au)
The South Sydney Rabbitohs – inspired by the facial hair of hooker Shane Walker – are embarking on the “Grow ya Moe” promotion to provide funds for schizophrenia research.
Walker, renowned in rugby league circles and revered by Footy Show cult icon Reg Reagan for his infamous handlebar moustache, has thrown his weight behind the project, which will be interactive for fans and players alike.
“The aim of the grow ya moe promotion is to get as many Souths fans to grow the handlebar as possible before the Round 21 home game against the Bulldogs,” says Walker.
“We’re not looking for established moes here – I know there are a whole bunch of village people fans around – what we want are blokes growing them in the eight week period, then choosing the top five to be judged on the day of the game against Canterbury.
“Some of the boys will participate, as will the marketing department at the club, and we think we can raise some money to help fund schizophrenia research,” Walker concluded.
Headshots of the moustached participants will be displayed on a special page of the Souths website, where the option will be given to vote for the best moe.
Fans, Souths players, and club officials will be participating, with entries to close during the week of Souths Round 20 clash against the Melbourne Storm.
The five most popular moustaches, as voted by South Sydney fans, will then be invited to attend the Rabbitohs versus Bulldogs match in Round 21 at Aussie Stadium, where it’s envisaged that Reg Reagan himself will be on hand to judge the best moe.
Also, the South Sydney club will be selling fake moustaches on the day to supporters coming through the gate, and will donate proceeds to schizophrenia research.

HANG ON A MO (taken from www.smh.com.au)
With the proliferation of porn videos doing the rounds in league circles at the moment, South Sydney hooker Shane Walker has decided to again grow his Dirk Diggler moustache. "I've been working on it for about five days," Walker said yesterday. "It's got a nice shape about it."

Can he kick it? Maybe... (taken from www.smh.com.au)
Brisbane captain Shane Walker's Dirk Diggler moustache wasn't the only comedy in last Friday's game against Wests Tigers. Referee Tim Mander also played a major role. When Mander told the Broncos to stop putting their hands on the ball when making tackles, Walker said: "They let them do it in Queensland Cup" - a reference to how many reserve graders were in his side. Another time, Mander called "hold, hold" at a kick-off - and the would-be kicker took his instructions a bit too literally. "Not you!" Mander said, as the whole game ground to a halt. "You can kick it!"
