Step 6 of 7 - Affiliate Website Marketing

What is Affiliate Marketing and Affiliate Programs? Affiliate Marketing is the process by which an Advertiser (i.e. Nike) forms a relationship with a Publisher (you) whereby they pay you for sending them cutomers!

Sounds good so far but how excatly does it work?

Affiliate Marketing is a relatively new concept in SA, although it has been running in the rest of the world since about 1997.

Affiliate Marketing simply works like this:
An Advertiser, let's use XYZ in our examaple, would like to market their product, the widget, on the internet.

So they launch an Affiliate Program to help them achieve this goal.

Because of the fact that you own a site and/or a newsletter you have the ability to join their Affiliate program. (obviously at no charge)

They will provide you with banners, text links etc. to display on your site on behalf of XYZ.

You choose which banners and how many banners, where you put them on your site etc.! This is important. You have complete control!

Every time one of your site visitors clicks on one of the XYZ banners they are sent to the XYZ site.

If they perfrom an action that XYZ requires, you earn commission.

XYZ will decide what the action is and it could be anything from something as simple as purchasing an item,somebody signing up for their newsletter or simply left their details (known as a lead).

Other than joining the XYZ program and placing the banners as and how you please, nothing is required to yield a substantial income!

Simple isn't it!

You don't need thousands of visitors either. Please remember any person that visits your site could possibly require a service, a product, advice etc. has a potential income value for you.

All your visitors have a potential of generating income for you!

Furthermore, many affiliates that don't have websites, use e-mail marketing very successfully. Please do not SPAM though. Ever!

Right at the bottom of this page you will see an example of an Affiliate link for Netflorist. We added them there and we earn money everytime you click on that link and buy flowers!

So how do you find Affiliate programs?

Internationally the is a company known as CJ ( Commission Junction http://www.cj.com ) and they probably have the largest selection of international programs! There are numerous others as well. Just search for them in Google.

In South Africa we have a great company called Offer FORGE SA https://za.offerforge.com/affiliate_signup.html/za1228, part of the ForgeBusiness Group.

I would very strongly suggest that you visit their site and see what they are all about and then sign up as an Affiliate .

It is absolutely free and the Network manager, Gerald Crawford, is very helpful and will surely help you to get started right away!
