Satellit 700 memofile chips:

I have the Microchip 24LC16B/P Chips, available at £5.50 / US$12 / 8 Euro. They are brand new & unused. E-mail me and let me know how many you want, and where you live, and I will quote you a price inc. shipping. Payments by Paypal, cash or UK bank cheque/postal order only. I can supply a photocopy of the installation process from the Satellit 700 owners manual at no extra charge, should you not have a copy of the manual. Just ask for it.

Satellit 700 LCD display / Satellit 500 LCD display & keypad bulbs:

I have the above bulbs at £1.50/$3.50 /2.50 Euro each. If you have a Satellit 700, you may want to buy them in pairs, because you will probably want to replace both at once, and even if you don't, you'll want a spare. For a Satellit 500, you need to determine whether you have a 3 bulb radio or a 2 bulb model. Those with serial numbers before 806691 should be 2 lamp models, all those after are 3 lamp. You may wish t oopen it up to check. Now, these bulbs are not exactly the same as the originals. They are the same size, voltage (5V) and current rating (60mA) but, unlike the originals, they are not frosted glass. However, it doesn't matter, as the clear plastic light conductor fitted in the radio diffuses the light quite adequately on its own. Here is a photo of a Satellit 700 display with a new bulb on the left, and an original one on the right:

Sorry, it's not a great photo, but it's not easy to shoot it in the dark! In any case, I think it proves the light level is about right, slightly brighter with the new bulb due to the lack of frosting, plus of course, the bulb on the right is getting old and probably nearing the end of its useful life. Payments by Paypal, cash or UK bank cheque/postal order only. I can supply a photocopy of the dismantling process from the relavent service manual at no extra charge, should you not have a copy of the manual. Just ask for it, stating which model, 500 or 700. Note: bulb fitting requires soldering and so should not be undertaken if you don't have the required skills. Get someone who knows how to work on electronics if you don't want to risk damage to the radio. E-mail me here.

Switched AC line cords

Back in the 1960's, Grundig cleverly fitted a switch to the AC cord of the TN12 AC adaptor, so you could turn off the AC power to the radio without having to either fumble for often difficult to reach AC outlets to turn it off, or pull the plug from the wall outlet.
This allowed you to save power, save the TN12 from unnecessary wear and tear, and save the bulbs in the radio, since they would remain on all the time if connected to AC. With the turn of the 1970's, a new connector was introduced to many radios, cassette recorders and other low consumption equipment, as it was cheap to make and supply, universal, and didn't need cable storage space in the radio, as it was disconnected from the unit when not required. This connector was what is officially known as the IEC 320 C7 (the plug) and IEC 320 C8 (the socket). More commonly known as a "figure of 8" connector because of it's shape, it looks like this:

Without the in line switch, you now had to pull the plug from the unit to save AC, wear and tear, and where fitted, bulbs in your Grundig Satellit, other high-end Grundig, or other portable equipment. Until now! Available from me, you can buy a switched "figure of 8" AC cord, with a 2 pole switch marked "ON" & "OFF". 2 pole switches disconnect both live and neutral for maximum safety, and because you can't be sure which wire in live in many countries due to reversible AC plugs being used.
The switch is fitted about 12 inches/30 centimetres from the appliance connector, but if you want it closer or further away, that can be done at no extra cost. Cable length is 6 feet/2 metres approx. The cord is supplied as standard with no AC plug fitted, you can supply that yourself, but if required, I can fit a standard UK 13A plug, an American 2 pin, or European 2 pin plug for an extra £1/$2US/2 Euro. Now you can just "turn it off" without fiddling with AC outlets and switches that may be inaccessible, pulling the plug from the appliance (causing wear and tear on the socket) and have all the advantages that Grundig wisely offered in the 1960's. Price for one cord with no AC outlet plug, but including shipping to anywhere in the world, is £10/$21US/14.50 Euro. Payment can be UK sterling cheque or postal order, cash (UK pounds/US Dollars or Euro's) in registered post or Paypal (But email me first to confirm cost and check availability!). Cheque's in foreign currency take up to 4 weeks to cash and cost an extra £7, thanks to the inflexibility of the UK banking system, so I'd rather avoid this method if possible, as it is so slow and costly.

This cord will fit Grundig Satellit models: 1000, 2000, 2100, 3000, 3400, 1400, 2400, 300, 400, 4000, 600 & 650, also many other Grundig radios with internal AC units, eg: Ocean Boy 400/500/510, Concert Boy's/Party Boy's/Music Boy's from the mid 70's to the late 90's, Radio Cassettes such as the C8800, C9000, C4100, C4200, C2600, C2800, and Cassette recorders like the C410, and all the models that look like the CR485 (sloped speaker/mid panel). Also many other manufacturer's models take this same connector. In short, if your appliance has a socket that looks like the illustration above, this will fit. For enquiries, e-mail me (Don't change the subject line of your e-mail, this will ensure prompt response.)

NR90 adaptor plugs to fit YB500 without modification

If you have an NR90, the one that came with a Satellit 500 or 700, I can supply an adaptor plug which plugs onto the NR90 plug, and fits the YB500, so no rewiring needed! The polarity is already correct. If you are interested, email me by clicking here, and I'll let you know the cost, depending where you are in the world. Payments by Paypal, cash or UK bank cheque/postal order only.
