Mr. Slow Death (He’s a Comin’) My starving eye It wanders sleepless through my mind Reflects the sky Our beauty runs on short supply Bathed in kerosene Inside my lungs the diamond scene Like burning trees They’ll dance like Christmas mad men sing Swim in my head The time has come for time to end Wise woman said The walls all spit up endorphins Mr. Slow Death, He’s a Comin’ Mr. Slow Death, He’s a Comin’ He’s coming for me He’s coming for me |
Song Background Slow Death came out of another jam which Thomas, Mario and I (Brian) played with one day. Mario named it from a character in Bukowski. I wrote some lyrics that I took from a poem called " My Starving Eye " which is the opening line of the song. Usually what happens with jams is I let my head do the talking and when we finish I pick and choose which words and or phrasings I liked the most. That is how I achieved most of the other lyrics in the song. Everything in this song came from mainly jamming once or twice on it. It's about wastelands and Salvador Dali paintings. It's all inspired by that surrealism which I hoped would be captured in the song. |
