TO CLEAR UP A BIT OF NAME CONFUSION: Rigmor signed her work as Rigmor Hansen. In her later years she took back her maiden name Garnes as a middle name, but was never really known in the art wold under the name of Rigmor Garnes Hansen. Gry Garness has her mother's maiden name Garnes, and her surname in Norway is indeed still Garnes (which in Norway rhymes withe harness) . But the challenge to most English people on being presented with a first name that rhymes with angry -as opposed to why- and a surname that surely should rhyme with barnes proved to be too much of a hassle for GG, who, being pragmatic about the whole thing, found that adding another s on the surname in the UK made life a whole lot easier...
