PART 6 |
Jim gets Blair and Deana to the safe house in record speed. After going by their loft and Deana's warehouse they had made a beeline to the house. Actually it was an old apartment over the top of the Millennium club that fellow detective Henri Brown would perform at on occasion with his jazz band. The vision had made him extra concerned this time. Full protector mode was in place and Blair had never seen him so protective over someone before, that vision must have been a dozy for him to behave this way. "Okay I don't want either one of you to leave this apartment, understood?" Jim said as he walked to the door. "I am going to the roof to keep a lookout make yourselves at home, Chief, behave yourself okay?" "Understood and understood on the second one, Jim." Blair usually had a wisecrack to say to his sentinel's orders but this time he didn't think that he should. "Detective Ellison, how do you know that we are in danger?" Deana asked, due to the fact that she had a small amount of telepathy and empathic ability she sensed that he was telling the truth. She just wanted to know how he knew. "I have an inside source Dr. Greenwood, and you can call me Jim." Jim said smiling reassuringly at Dr. Greenwood. "I understand, and you can call me Deana if we are gonna be on a first name basis. Besides, any friend of Blair's is a friend of mine." Deana did understand, she sensed something special about Jim and Blair especially when they were together. They also had a black jaguar and a wolf following them around. She suspected that they were the two's spirit guides. "Thank you, Deana." Jim looked at her and thought to himself that for the first time the kid had found someone good for a change. It could do him some good to have a stable woman in his life. Outside the club Emma and Brennan were listening to the three talking to each other with their Com-Link Rings. "You know, Brennan, the more that I sense coming from Detective Ellison and Dr. Sandburg the more that I feel that we can trust them." "I hope that you are right, Em'." Brennan said sighing. "You're just don't like being around Det. Ellison because he is a cop." Emma said smiling at him crookedly. "Yep, never much liked being around cops, even now." Emma gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. She knew how he felt and felt for him. XXXXX Steve Myers, anthropology student and new mutant, was walking down the hall toward his next class when he ran into a woman, "OOPS! Sorry!" When he looked into her eyes he knew instantly what she was, a new mutant operative for the GSA. A woman with superstrength. She looked at him and smiled. "That is alright, I wasn't watching were I was going myself." "It happens a lot to me too, I just get too focused on where I am going and not what is going on around me." Steve tries to make conversation with her to find out more about her. "My name is Steve, and yours?" "Kendra, Kendra Macavoy. I just started here. Can you direct me to the library I have to get some books for my first class of today?" "Sure, just go out those doors and hang a right. Then you go another left and your there." "Thanks a lot, I appreciate it." She walks away. Steve walks into a janitors closet and takes out his cell phone and dials a number. The number then bounces off a satellite and around a network of antenna then is received as Sanctuary in order for the signal not to be traced. There it was made secure by the Sanctuary system. "Answer." "Adam, it's Steve, I just ran into a GSA agent at Ranier." "Do you know who it is?" Adam asks the student, he had asked Steve to use his power to weed out new mutants at the university a year ago after he found Steve. Being adamant against going into the underground, Steve had agreed to the arrangement. Since then they have found several new mutants including Dr. Greenwood, who at the moment it appearEd would need to be approached in order to keep her safe. "A woman by the name of Kendra Macavoy, thought I am not sure if that is her real name." "Yes, we have had dealings with Ms. Macavoy before. I want you to be careful. Don't do anything that could compromise yourself in anyway. I will send Jesse and Shalimar there to keep an eye on the university." Shalimar, who had been standing beside Adam listening to the conversation nodded to her leader in understanding and then left for the university. "Don't worry, Adam, I will lie as low as I can." The man then hangs up the phone and leaves the closet careful not to draw attention to himself. "Jesse, I want you to go to the university. You will meet Shalimar there. She will fill you in on everything." Adam said into the Com-Link System. Adam didn't like having the GSA so close to Steve or the doctor. And he also didn't like having them close to the detective and the anthropologist either. If they were what he suspected that they were, he didn't want them to wind up in the hands of Mason Eckhart and the GSA. If The GSA got a hold of them it could spell the end to Mutant X and disaster for all new mutants. At the university Shalimar met up with Jesse and she updated him on what was happening. "Kendra Macavoy? Boy would I like to have a piece of her." Jesse said when he heard her name. Jesse hoped that this time he would be the one to confront her for what she had done to his telekinetic new mutant girlfriend, Toni Quintana. She had betrayed Toni to the GSA and kidnapped her to make the woman use her computer hacking skills to hack into Proxy Blue, a cybernetic reporter of sorts, to use her to spread the GSA party line. "I get were you're coming from, Jess. You aren't the only one who wants to get their hands on her." Shalimar said smiling back at Jesse. She thought of him and the other teammates in Mutant X as her family. She partly due to her feral nature and partly due to her love for them was highly territorial and protective of Adam, Brennan, Emma, and Jesse. "I know you do, Shal', thanks." "No problem, let's go bro'. |
