Ozgen Imamoglu's (above) lawyer Gurkan Altun stated that his client had committed no such crime, and that they wouldn't be paying the fine.
In the Bursa Public Prosecutor's investigation of tutor Ozgen Imamoglu - arrested for committing such crimes as taking pornographic photographs of his students and selling them on the internet, rape and attempted rape - an "out of jurisdiction" verdict was reached because "the incident did not occur within the borders of Bursa province". Imamoglu - arrested in the international Landmark Operation - was fined 1,875 million lira ($1,500) for engaging in the international child pornography trade. The file about the tutor was sent to Gaziantep.
As for the investigation into Imamoglu's internet pornography trade, prosecutors decided to fine the accused 1,875 million lira. Authorities in the public prosecutor's office announced that Ozgen Imamoglu, still in Bursa E-Type Prison, had to pay the fine within ten days. If Imamoglu pays the fine in time, the crime won't be included in his criminal record. If he contests the verdict or doesn't pay the fine, a trial will be opened in Bursa Criminal Court. It was learned that no money had been transferred abroad to Imamoglu, whose bank accounts were put under scrutiny on the grounds that he had engaged in pornography trade on the internet.
Ozgen Imamoglu, a tutor in a private school in Bursa, was arrested in his house in December as part of the international Landmark Operation related to child pornography and exploitation through the joint efforts of the General Police Headquarters and Bursa Police Headquarters.
It was claimed that Imamoglu, in whose house were found numerous child pornography CD's and video cassettes, had raped many children in Bursa and previously Gaziantep (where he had worked before), taken nude photographs of them and traded the photographs on the internet.
