At a time when bank bosses - who are claimed to have embezzled millions of dollars - are being released, 3 high-school-age children were arrested under suspicion of stealing Cokokrem [a brand of chocolate biscuit], chocolate and biscuits and legal action was brought against them with the demand of an 8-year prison sentence. A 9-year prison sentence was given to four children who broke into Gaziantep's famous Gulluoglu shop and stole baklava and pistachio nuts on the night of August 10 1997. However, because three of the children were aged under 18 at the time of the crime, their sentences were reduced to 6 years.
