The Forest People
Eiden's from the palisades, the walled off villages of the people who worship the golden idols. In his curiosity, Eiden sneaks into the temple to touch the idol in order to confirm that he's not worshiping an empty goddess. But Eiden is caught with his hand on the statue, an offense punishable by death at the hands of the vampire-savages that live in the forests outside their village.
