"America's Sweetheart" Mary Pickford was the first female Grand Marshal as well as the first Hollywood figure to serve in the role. She rode in a coach drawn by four white horses with reins and harness of white satin.

Shirley Temple – Former Girl Scout
Rose Parade Grand Marshal 1939, 1989, and 1999
Child actress Shirley Temple exclaimed "Oh goodie! Will I get to wear a badge?" when she was named Grand Marshal in 1939. In 1989 and 1999, the actress/diplomat delighted Rose Parade audiences with repeat appearances in the position.
