Gurmat Sangeet Bhawan

The University has a modern well-planned campus located about seven kilometers from the Patiala city, called the City of Gardens. The Campus is spread over about 320 acres with imposing buildings in lush green, pollution-free environment away from hustle and bustle of city life. A Gurmat Sangeet Bhawan is being constructed on the Punjabi University campus with financial support from various individuals and organizations. After the '' Takk ceremony'', performed by the Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, construction work of the Bhawan commenced on November 17, 2003. The University has reserved eight kanals of land for the Bhawan. Various blocks have been designed to be built in the Bhawan for training and research on playing and singing on musical instruments related to Gurmat Sangeet. Construction of multi-storeyed Gurmat Sangeet Bhawan will help to preserve the ancient as well as modern traditions of music.
