Girl Scout
Spirit
I’ve got that Girl Scout spirit,
Up in my head, Up in my head,
Up in my head,
I’ve got that Girl Scout spirit,
Up in my head, Up in my head
to stay.
I’ve got that Girl Scout spirit,
Deep in my heart, Deep in
my heart, Deep in my heart,
I’ve got that Girl Scout spirit,
Deep in my heart, Deep in
my heart to stay.
I’ve got that Girl Scout spirit,
Down in my feet, Down in my
feet, Down in my feet,*
I’ve got that Girl Scout spirit,
Down in my feet, Down in my
feet to stay.
I’ve got that Girl Scout spirit,
All over me, All over me,
All over me,
I’ve got that Girl Scout spirit,
All over me, All over me to
stay
I’ve got that Girl Scout Spirit,
Up in my head,
Deep in my heart,
Down in my feet,
I’ve got that Girl Scout spirit,
All over me, All over me,
All ways.
Girl Scouts Together
Girl scouts together,
That is our song,
Winding the old trails,
Rocky and long,
Learning our motto,
Living our creed,
Girl Scouts together,
In every good deed.
Girl scouts together,
Happy we are,
Friendly to neighbors,
Far o’er the sea;
Faithful to country,
Loyal to home.
Known as true Girl Scouts
Wherever we roam.
Girl Scouts Will
Shine Tonight
Girl Scouts will shine tonight
Girl Scouts will shine,
Girl Scouts will shine tonight
All down the line,
We’re all dressed up tonight
We’re feeling fine,
When the sun goes down and
The moon comes up,
Girl Scouts will shine.

Green Grass Grows
(in each verse, the leader
sings a line and everyone repeats. Chorus is sung all together.)
Once upon a time
There was a tree
The purttiest tree
That you ever did see!
Chorus:
And
the tree was in the ground
And
the green grass grew all around, all around,
And
the green grass grew all around!
Now on that tree
There was a branch
Just the purttiest little
branch
That you ever did see!
Chorus:
And
the branch was on the tree
And
the tree was in the ground
And
the green grass grew all around, all around
And
the green grass grew all around!
...add on twig, nest, egg,
bird, wing, feather, flea, elephant!
Actions:
Ground:
move both arms out from the body horizontally (i.e. as a movie director
would when saying "cut!")
Tree: two hands trace parallel
lines starting at the level of your head and heading downwards
Branch: hold one arm out as
a branch
Twig: hold up your pinky finger
Nest: cup your hands
Egg: make a fist
Bird: one hand pointed forward
at your face as a beak, the other sticking out behind as a tail
Wing: flap one arm
Feather: trace the path a
feather would take as it falls through the air
Flea: indicate something really
small
Elephant: trace the outline
of something really big!
Green, Green
Green, green, the color of
spring,
I see a bird on the wing
A butterfly flutters by
And all of the world is filled
with surprise.
Don’t wink, Don’t even blink,
For an instant just stop and
think
Of all the wonders gone by;
And all that you’d miss if
you closed your eyes.
Raindrops fall from the sky,
Land on a flower so it won’t
die.
A child laughs merrily
And all of the world is gay
and free.
A petal falls to the ground
In a puddle it swirls around.
A tune floats through the
air,
And all of the world is free
from care.
Two birds fly through the air,
They meet, and then form a
pair.
Come now, along with me,
Together we’ll roam.
Life’s wonders we’ll see.
Gypsy Rover
The gypsy rover came over the
hill,
Down through the valley so
shady,
He whistled and sang ‘till
the green woods rang,
And he won the heart of a
lady.
CHORUS:
Ah-day-do-ah-de do-ah day
Ah-day-do-ah-do day ee
He whistled and he sang ‘till
the green woods rang
And he won the heart of a
lady.
She left her father’s castle
gate,
She left her own young lover,
She left her servants and
her estate,
To follow the gypsy rover.
Her father saddled up his fastest
steed,
And roamed the valleys all
over,
He sought his daughter at
great speed
And her whistling gypsy rover.
He found them at last by a
castle fine,
Down by the river Claydis,
And there was music and there
was wine
For the gypsy and his lady.
“He is no gypsy, my father”,
she said,
“But lord of these lands all
over,
And I shall stay ‘till my
dying day,
With my whistling, gypsy rover.”
Ham Bones Are Good
Hambone's are good, Wa!
Chicken is sweet, Wa!
Possum meat is very, very
fine on its own;
But, give me, Oh give me,
I really wish you would,
That watermelon hang'n on
that vine, Yeha!
And when I went to fetch it,
It' twas a rainy night,
And the moon and stars had
not yet begun to shine.
And when the farmer saw me,
He shot me through the fence,
But I never got that melon
off that vine. Yeha!
Hambone's are good, Wa!
Chicken is sweet, Wa!
Possum meat is Very, Very
fine on its own;
But, give me, Oh give me,
I really wish you would,
That watermelon hang'n on
that vine, Yeha!
