[Upper Kaldsfang]
This small and uncharacteristically flat expanse of land surrounds the
crumbling remnants of a once great tower that still manages despite
its great age to stand tall. Stones and rocks, some natural, some
part of the original construct lie scattered around the landscape. A
rotted log stretches over the moat, leading shakily up to the battered
and time weary doors which hang awkwardly from their hinges. You also
see a ghost wolf, a bone golem, the Dartaghan disk, the Logun disk,
the Pofo disk and a clear sapphire.
Also here: Lord Zimbangu, Pofo, Tzavge, Lord Logun, Lord Trachten, Lord
Dartaghan, Dirg.

You find the footing is tricky, but you make your way across.

[Tower]
Precious little room is available for standing on this side of the
moat. Scant steps separate you from the dangerous log bridge and the
sagging wooden doors of the tower, which rudely bear the nicks and
cuts reminiscent of blademarks as well as the ravages of age. You
also see the Dartaghan disk, an inlaid ivory chest and some vines.
Also here: Cerul, Bleys, Lord Dartaghan, Turin, Khelvan, Crispin, Lady
Kayla, Lord Krisenfest.
Obvious paths: none.

You hear a click as Cerul unlocks an inlaid ivory chest.
>
Cerul exclaims, "Aha!"
>
Khelvan just opened an inlaid ivory chest.
>
Kayla exclaims, "Yeah!"
>
Dirg smiles.
>
Jarran exclaims, "Nice!"
>
Just as you open the chest, you feel a rushing wind and a sudden drop
in temperature. You look in awe as a swirling mass emerges from the
chest. With it attends the sense of death and wonder. Your bones
seem to grow brittle and your muscles tense rigid in fear. You are
stunned.
>
Zimbangu says, "Uh oh."
>

>
A dark reaver just arrived.
>
As the black mass grows solid, the image of what must surely be a black
reaver is forever blazed in one terrifying instant upon your mind.
Dressed in black plate armor, it stands nearly nine feet tall. It is
holding a huge, hooked battle-axe. Upon its head is a helmet with two
glistening horns. Its pulsating bright red eyes stare coldly at you,
examining you, trying to decide something. You are certain it is your
fate and you will die shortly.
>
Strangely, the black reaver looks away from you and instead examines
its surroundings. When it glances back at the chest it suddenly
changes appearance. It begins to glow with a reddish power. The air
around you begins to tingle, as if an essence storm was coming. Still
dazed and unable to do anything, you watch in horror as the reaver
continues to gather power about itself.
>
As the power grows, your vision begins to blurr. You can feel power
being drawn out of you. Everything around you begins to waver as if
distorted by great heat. For a brief moment, you fear the world is
melting around you and wonder if this is the end of the world.
Whatever the thing is going to do, you feel it must happen soon or
everything around you will cease to exist.
>
You see a tall thin crack opening in front of the reaver. As it grows,
you realize you must be looking through a gate into one of the Pales,
perhaps the original home of this demon, perhaps hell.
>
Your mind begins to fragment and in the distorted vision, you imagine
bits of your life essence being ripped apart and sucked into the
crack. If this continues much longer, you will be lost.
>
The reaver continues to gesture, but the crack has stopped growing.
>
The reaver continues to gesture, but the crack has stopped growing.
Undaunted, it reaches out and takes hold of the edges of the crack,
forcing it to open wider. Then, like a cat reaching into a fishbowl,
the reaver sticks its arm into the gate and grabs at something.
>
Inside, you see ethereal forms with human-like faces. Some stare back
in hollow-eyed terror while others, ignoring the reaver, seem to be
struggling to reach the opening of the gate.
>
Suddenly, a blast of blinding light explodes from inside the gate. An
instant later the crack is closed, but not before you recognize the
image of Eissa standing within it, one hand raise. "I forbid it." you
hear her call out.
>
The reaver throws back its head and screams, but clearly not from fear
or pain but of hatred and anger. Surely it will turn upon you and
destroy you now.
>
But the dark reaver seems to have forgotten about you. Instead, it
looks up into the sky towards Orhan. With a slight gesture, it casts
a ball of red fire, which climbs into the sky towards the sacred moon.
In a grating, harsh voice it says, "The grave will not stop me, Eissa.
I will destroy all who stand in my way."
>
You are appalled. What kind of creature can stand against the gods?
You shudder at the thought. Then, it finally turns to you, mocking
you with a cackling, trill laughter.
>
The reaver says, "Your reward." 'REWARD,' you think 'No!' It
gestures slightly and you see some rings appear on the ground. "Enjoy
them. I may have need of you again." Then the dark reaver moves
east, disappearing into the air as if it were spreading itself out and
mingling into the light.
>
The dark reaver laughs. "Yes, and you shall grow to fear me more than
anything you have ever known."
>
The dark reaver waves its hand and then it leaves.
>
A dark reaver just left.
>
You are still stunned.
>

>
You hug Kayla.
>

With a sudden flash of insight, you realize you now understand more of
what you have experienced.....

>
Kayla says, "Okay Rethe.."
>
Dartaghan asks, "did anyone see where it went?"
>
You offer your skull ring to Kayla, who has 30 seconds to accept the
offer. Type CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer.
Erek raises an eyebrow in Khelvan's direction.
Turin picks up a small statue.
