SU61 Admin Website Work

Work to Do

• create the calendar/index.html, sales/index.html, and leaders/index.html files (in progress)
• Fill in the names in the Contacts table on sitemap.html.
• joyce to send Marla Service Unit #61 Team Roster
• put up pictures subdir; investigate yahoo's support for storing pictures to link to but without taking up our website space.
• Ask Fran I she wants Parents page with info to contact registrar? Or go to council parents page and girl interest form?
• put whatever content I can find in the files from the old site that fits in those three subdirs, and link to them from the subdir/index files (in progress)
• Put instructions/explanations of relative links and graphics on admin page. Also explain about server inserted ads, and how to remove them.

Work Done

• renaming url to su61 instead of su34.
• Joyce to get herself a hotmail email account. Hotmail so she can read her email while logged into the SU my_yahoo account.
• fix the top page, index.html, to reference graphics in shared
• Discuss navigation options. Relative vs. absolute links.
• make a parents/index page: link to council
• create or copy the top level files aboutsu61.html (Done) and sitemap.html
• fix all the local links to be relative and graphics references to use files in the shared subdir (done for all files that have migrated to new site)
• Set up aliases for registrar, leader support manager, troop development manager, program support manager, cookie manager? Webmistress, other? fall product sales, mentor alias per level. brownie_lmentor, daisy_lmentor, etc. (See sitemap.html)

1. references bad image, Badges1.jpe, in the main title table at the top
2. all the links to other sites are broken, but the websites look like they are still there, at least some.
3. this is a good page but are we duplicating content we could reference on the council site?

great page for leaders, but links are all broken

clipart.html

moved to leaders subdir. Bad graphic (library2.gif) in the title, like badgesanduniforms.html. Bad link to GSUSA site. Second link is good, though.

craftswaps.html

moved to leaders. Links and graphics good.

fallproductsale.html

Did not move yet(will go under sales). Is the info current for this year? It includes name and number for Rosanna Sanda. The graphic in the title is a cookie! Can't we get a nut?

will go under calendar. This is the one I'd like to get up the most.

I made the About Girl Scouts link go to the council page for parents. I think the other links in this table need a bit of work. Some may be broken. I don't think we should reference links at the council site below their /parents subdir. We could put a note on our page encouraging readers to look for things there, like FAQs, girl scout terms, etc. But if we link to those things, the links will just break (again) over time.
