GSUSA - 90th Anniverasry 90 years, Still Growing Strong - What does this mean to you!
This year to celebrate the 90th birtday of Girl Scouts, the Service
Unit will kick off a year long campaigne of service. Since our
service unit is so large we will try to count on at least 90 troops
collecting 9 months worth of items and 90 hours of service. Now, you
say how is that possible and how can we afford this. First of al, we
are asking that each troop contribute only one troop donation each
month. If your troop really likes a particular month's donation item,
please feel free to donate more items. Besides the monetary items we
also will be looking for 90 minutes a month in a service related to
that month theme. Read on and you will get the idea. At the March
leaders meeting to celebrate our birthday, we will have a special
celebration.
October - Books for Children
each troop - to donate books
each scout - to spend 90 minutes reading aloud to someone who
doesn't read
November - Toy or Game for Tots
each troop - to donate one new toy or game
each scout - to spend 90 minutes teaching/playing a game
December - Sweat Pants and Sweat Shirts
each troop - to donate one XXL sweat shirt and one XXL sweatpants
each scout - to spend 90 minutes visiting a Senior Citizens Facility
January - Umbrellas and Rain Coats
each troop - to donate an umbrella and rain coat (adult or child)
each scout - write 90 words about you and your troop and send to
another troop
February - Gifts of Love - Toiletry Bags
each troop - to donate a toiletry bag
each scout - to make Valentines for Vets, combined total of 90 for
your troop
March - Food Boxes
each troop - to donate 1 pound of food (see list month before)
each scout - to do 90 minutes of helping parents in the kitchen
(dishes/table setting)
April - Planting- flowers or a tree
each troop - to donate and plant a tree or 90 flowers
each scout - to do 90 minutes of yard work at home or for a neighbor
May - Baby Items Drive
each troop - to donate a baby blanket, bottle, etc.
each scout - to be a mom's helper for 90 minutes
June - School Items
each troop - to donate pencils, notebooks, etc.
each scout - to do 90 minutes of helping to clean your school
