Please follow these rules in order to have a safe and successful Cookie Shop experience for your girls.
Permission slips are required. The generic cookie sales permission slip is not sufficient. You need permission slips specific to participating in a cookie shop on certain days.
Girls should wear membership pin or uniform.
Keep the money behind something, out of sight, so that a brazen thief cannot just walk up to the table and take it.
There should always be at least 2 adults supervising the sales.
Periodically dispatch an adult to put the money in the car.Park as close to the cookie shop as possible.
Set up the cookie shop at only one store entrance, even if the store has two doors, so people who are easily annoyed wont feel trapped.
For younger girls:
Keep the number of girls small, 3-4 at a time.
Keep the times short.A three-hour troop assignment can be split into three one-hour shifts for girls, or two 1.5-hour shifts.
Decide in advance whether or not the girls will be allowed to handle money and make change. If they are, provide careful adult supervision. For example, an adult could handle the money box and help the girls interact with customers to take money and make change.
Teach the girls how to politely solicit sales, and also to practice picking up on non-verbal cues that a person really does not want to be bothered or asked at all.
