“Music is a Universal Language”
|
One of the first things we learned in our ethnomusicology training was that music is not a universal language. Sure, all cultures have music, just like they have a language. However, I wouldn’t travel to India or France without a translator to interpret my words for me. Neither would I necessarily expect my songs to speak to someone of another culture. This is why we encourage people groups around the world to worship God with their own “heart music.” We work side-by-side with translators who want people to read the Bible in their own language.
