He was born on May 18, 1952 south of San Antonio, Texas in Poteet and was raised in a a nearby rural community of Pearsall. His name is George Strait, in my opinion the King of country music. A career in music didn't occur to him. He never dreamed of it never thought about music. His parents divorced when George was in fourth grade. George & his brother Buddy, stayed with their dad. Life was not easy. George & his brother Buddy worked hard on the family's 2000-acre ranch just south of Big Wells, Texas. It was hard honest work but it was also a great way to grow up for a boy that loved roping & riding.

George then attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, just between San Antonio & Austin, Texas. After a couple of semesters there he enlisted into the Army for a 3-year hitch. (how many fans out there knew that?) Love George in that cowboy hat can you just see him in a uniform? MMMM....He was shipped to Hawaii. His wife the beautiful Norma Strait joined him there.

His family life which he keeps to himself (I don't blame him) is very important to him. Even the loss of his 13 year old daughter Jenifer from a car accident in San Marcos, Texas George never talked about his feelings with the press about his loss. Everyone knew how he was hurting. But George went on with his music not wanting to disappoint his fans.

With the following under his belt you can see that George Strait is the king of country music yesterday, today, & tomorrow. His music will live on forever. These are just a few of George's on going career in the music business. 24 Platinum albums....more then any other country act, 36 #1 singles on the Billboard charts, 50 CMA Award nominations...a record.

But with all of what George has done in his career, its in the music. To me when I hear George sing, I can hear his heart in every song. Thats it, he puts his heart & soul into his music and I as I know many of his fans can hear that heart & soul in his songs. I know alot of people like different kinds of music & singers, but I can listen to George Strait 24/7 and never ever get tired of hearing the same songs over & over. My 3 year old son can even sing to George's songs. ( I will have my own little George Strait when my son grows up).

Pure Country which began filming on May 7, 1992 is by far my all time favorite movie. It was filmed in Fort Worth & Waxahachie, Texas and in Las Vegas. The movie which starred George Strait, Lesley Ann Warren & Isabel Glasser was released October 23 and was #6 at the box office the week it opened. The film critics were very good to George. Said he had promise. (of course we all knew that). His son George Strait Jr. also known as "Bubba" sang with his daddy the song Heartland. Bubba was only 11 years old at the time.

How about George's great band members "Ace in the hole" Benny McArthur, Rick McRae, David Anthony, Phillip Fajardo, Terry Hale, Ronnie Huckaby, Mike Daily & Gene Elders. What a wonderful group of musicians.
