Girl Scouts help boost new venture started by N.C.-grown `Survivor'

Now this was more like the tribal council Jeff Varner was looking for.
Varner is the Greensboro native who lasted until about halfway through the recent CBS series "Survivor: The Australian Outback." He met a dozen of his biggest fans Friday when he visited Charlotte to publicize a charity program he has started.
The fans, eight members of Girl Scout Troop 152 in Charlotte and four adult leaders, met with Varner when he visited WNKS-FM (95.1) to appear on the morning "Ace and T.J." show.
"He was our favorite, all the way," said Sandy Williams, the troop leader.
The meeting was arranged so the girls could present Varner with about 500 coloring books for his Crayon Alliance. Varner launched the effort to provide crayons and coloring books to children in hospital burn units.
