Gold Award Projects
Three of the Senior Scouts completed their Gold Award Projects during the Service Unit's annual spring camping event
Lydia coordinated the camping event. Built around the theme of Harry Potter, the event allowed younger scouts to experience the "magic" of Girl Scout camping while completing activities for a try-it or badge.
Lydia & Kate went to check out the campground before the event. Despite pouring rain they walked every unit and building to plan how they would organize the event.
Kate was in charge of all the meals/snacks. Planning a scout friendly menu, she made sure they were well fed and cleaned up after!
The sorting hat was a favorite with the brownies!
Sara Catherine created a knotboard for the camp property and then used it during the weekend to teach the scouts how to tie knots. Our biggest challenge was getting it there!
Our Gold Award Scouts were supported by their troop mates who developed and presented a variety of activities for the scouts.
Exploring the magic of science...
Searching for treasure on a nature hike...
       Playing games...
               Making paper..
                    Creating "house" flags...
     ...everyone had lots of fun!
As the weekend came to an end, the senior scouts were tired but satisfied that they were leaving the younger scouts a legacy of learning and fun.
