I was turned off by the high price of most replica kits until I found out about the ASPP kit that uses a Pontiac Fiero as the donor car. It makes sense to use the Fiero since it is a two seat mid-engine design, with independent front and rear suspension, and four wheel disc brakes. Used Fieros are fairly inexpensive and can be found for sale in the classifieds just about anywhere. The auto recycling yards where I lived had a lot of junked Fieros for spare parts as well. It's no wonder that the Fiero the donor vehicle of choice for most Lamborghini and Ferrari clones.

I traded my Artero for this car that basically had the body installed and a decent paint job, but it needed a lot of work when I got it, mechanically and cosmetically. The suspension was the first place to start. The handling could be described as interesting at best and downright scary at worst. Most of this was attributed to severely worn rear ball joints. The six cylinder engine had to eventually go as well, mostly because it just didn't make the right sort of V8 sounds.
