David Sanchez3 Chaves (José Perfecto4, José Mariano5, Antonio María Francisco6 Durán Y Chaves, Juan Domingo7, Francisco Xavier8)(25) was born in Los Chavez, New Mexico January 11, 1888.(26) His early youth was spent on the family ranch near the Alamo Indian Reservation, near Magdalena, Socorro County, New Mexico. David Chavez died November 27, 1976 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, at 85 years of age.(27)

He married once. David Sanchez Chavez and Piedad Duran were married at San Felipe de Neri Church, the famous Old Town Church, in Albuquerque, New Mexico by Father F. Durante, S.J., September 6, 1909.(28) Piedad was born in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico September 27, 1890.(29) Piedad(30) was the daughter of Mariano Durán and Cleofas Lobato. Alfred Chavez, the son of David Chaves, relates that David would visit his family on their ranch in Socorro County, about once a year. He would always bring back a gunny sack full of carne seca (beef jerky) and Indian blankets. The family ranch was located near the Alamo (Navajo) Indian Reservations near Magdalena, Socorro County, New Mexico. To visit the ranch, David Chaves would take the train to Magdalena, New Mexico.

David Chavez weighed 170 pounds; was 6-feet tall; had brown hair; had fair skin; had blue eyes. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad.

David Sanchez Chaves and Piedad Duran had the following children:

child 6 i. Salomon Chaves2 Mirabal(65) was born on (birth date unknown). Salomon died in El Paso, Tx.(66) He married Margaret Garcia. (Additional notes for Margaret Garcia(67)) Salomon was "adopted" by the Mirabal family. Used the Mirabal name. Need to research this further. Salomon was described by his brother, Alfred Chavez, as having green eyes.

Calvary Cemetery, No. 6, Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.(74) At 33 years of age Jose became the father of Joseph Charlie Chavez April 6, 1953. At 39 years of age Jose became the father of Phillip Anthony Chavez June 17, 1959. At 39 years of age Jose became the father of Cecelia Felicitas Chavez February 19, 1960. Mary Constance Chaves(75) was born in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico April 28, 1928.(76) Connie died January 26, 1981 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, at 52 years of age.(77) Her body was interred January 29, 1981 in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.(78) She married Vern Lucero. (Additional notes for Vern Lucero(79))

Connie's funeral was held on January 29, 1981 in San Felipe de Neri Church, Old Town, Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.(80) Mary Connie Chavez was called Connie or Pili. Connie married Vern Lucero who proved to be an abusive husband. She and her husband had one child, who died in infancy. She divorced him and returned to her Mother's house, caring for her elderly parents, then later just her Mother, until the time of her illness with diabetes. Her eyesight failed her and she lost her legs to amputation due to her diabetes late in her life.

Connie Chavez was a very devout Catholic. She was constantly known for doing errands for the Sisters at the convent at San Felipe Church in Old Town.

She worked for years at La Placita and La Hacienda restaurants as a waitress. The author remembers dear Aunt Connie as a sweet, kind-hearted person loved by many.

Chaves(81) was born 1930.(82) Reginald died August 21, 1986 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, Nm, at 56 years of age.(83) His body was interred August 25, 1986 in National Cemetery, Santa Fe County, Santa Fe, Nm.(84) He married Tillie Trujillo. Reggie's funeral was held on August 25, 1986 in Church Of The Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming, N.e., Albuquerque, New Mexico.(87) Reginald F. Chavez, called Reggie by friends and family, was the prinicipal of Old Town Elementary School when he died August 21, 1986 at the age of 56. He was a member of the Church of the Risen Savior Catholic Church and had been an educator with the Albuquerque Public Schools for 25 years. He was retired from the New Mexico Air National Guard and was a member of the A. M. Mandalri 4th Degree Council Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Phi Delta Kappa and the New Mexico Administrators Association. He was a former board member of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, a member of the State National Albuquerque Public Schools Elementary Principal Association, alnd belonged to the Poco Cuartros Model A Car Club.

His school was renamed the Reginald F. Chavez Elementary School upon his death.

Reggie Chavez met his wife, Tillie Trujillo in College. Both became teachers.
