He married Micaela Velasco in Mexico City, Nueva Espana (mexico), before 1693. (Additional notes for Micaela Velasco⁽¹⁹²⁵⁾) Micaela became the mother of Maria Manuela Garcia De La Riva in Mexico City, Nueva Espana (mexico), 1673.⁽¹⁹²⁶⁾ Micaela became the mother of Antonia Garcia De La Riva 1678.⁽¹⁹²⁷⁾ Micaela became the mother of Miguel Garcia De La Riva 1679.⁽¹⁹²⁸⁾ Micaela became the mother of Maria Francisca Garcia De La Riva 1683.⁽¹⁹²⁹⁾ Micaela became the mother of Teodora Garcia De La Riva 1686.⁽¹⁹³⁰⁾

Miguel became the father of Maria Manuela Garcia De La Riva in Mexico City, Nueva Espana (mexico), 1673.⁽¹⁹³¹⁾ Miguel became the father of Antonia Garcia De La Riva 1678.⁽¹⁹³²⁾ Miguel became the father of Miguel Garcia De La Riva 1679.⁽¹⁹³³⁾ Miguel became the father of Maria Francisca Garcia De La Riva 1683.⁽¹⁹³⁴⁾ Miguel became the father of Teodora Garcia De La Riva 1686.⁽¹⁹³⁵⁾ Miguel Garcia de la Riva, or Riba (also often written "de la Rivas") was a native of Mexico City, and a weaver by trade, who joined the colonists of 1693 with his wife, Micaela Velasco, and their five children: Miguel, fourteen, Maria, twenty, Antonia, fifteen, Maria Francisca, ten, and Teodora, seven. His wife became a member of the Confraternity of La Conquistadora on arrival. ["Our Lady of the Conquest" by Fray Angelico Chavez, Santa Fe, 1948].

Miguel received a grant in the Pajarito area sometime after the Reconquest. [Spanish Archives, I, No. 517].

By 1716, old Miguel had died, either in New Mexico, or, more likely, in Mexico City, where the rest of the family had returned. [Spanish Archives, I, No. 512].

In that year the mother came back to visit her two married daughters, and to see about the patrimony due a nature child of another daughter by ex-Governor Cuervo y Valdes. [Spanish Archives, I, No. 265].

Miguel Garcia De La Riva and Micaela Velasco had the following children:

401 iv. Maria Francisca Garcia De La Riva⁽¹⁹⁴⁰⁾ was born 1683.⁽¹⁹⁴¹⁾

402 v. Teodora Garcia De La Riva⁽¹⁹⁴²⁾ was born 1686.⁽¹⁹⁴³⁾ Teodora died November 1736 in Santa Fe, Kingdom Of New Mexico, at 50 years of age.⁽¹⁹⁴⁴⁾ Her body was interred November 17, 1736 in Conquistadora Chapel, Santa Fe, Kingdom Of New Mexico.⁽¹⁹⁴⁵⁾ Teodora and her sister, Manuela died on the same day and were buried together in the Conquistadora Chapel, November 17, 1736.
