214. Francisco⁸ Duran Y Cháves (Nicolás⁹ Durán Y Cháves)⁽¹²⁴⁸⁾ was born 1743.⁽¹²⁴⁹⁾ Francisco died in Los Chaves, New Mexico.⁽¹²⁵⁰⁾

He married twice. He married María Gertrudis Alvarez Del Castillo in San Augustin De La Isleta Chur, Isleta, Province Of New Mexico, April 6, 1756.⁽¹²⁵¹⁾ María was born February 12, 1742/43.⁽¹²⁵²⁾ María⁽¹²⁵³⁾ was the daughter of Juan Miguel Alvarez Del Castillo and Barbara Baca. María died before May 15, 1782 in Los Chaves, New Mexico, at approximately 39 years of age.⁽¹²⁵⁴⁾ At 20 years of age María became the mother of José Baltasar De Los Reyes Duran Y Chaves 1763.⁽¹²⁵⁵⁾ At 21 years of age María became the mother of María De La Luz Duran Y Chaves 1764.⁽¹²⁵⁶⁾ He married Josefa Romero in San Augustin De La Isleta Chur, Isleta, Province Of New Mexico, May 15, 1782.⁽¹²⁵⁷⁾ (Additional notes for Josefa Romero⁽¹²⁵⁸⁾)

At 20 years of age Francisco became the father of José Baltasar De Los Reyes Duran Y Chaves 1763.⁽¹²⁵⁹⁾ At 21 years of age Francisco became the father of María De La Luz Duran Y Chaves 1764.⁽¹²⁶⁰⁾ Francisco Chaves, the youngest son of Nicolas Duran y Chaves, married María Gertrudis Alvarez del Castillo, born February 12, 1743, a daughter of Juan Miguel Alvarez del Castillo, mentioned previously as being of unknown origin and his first wife Barbara Baca, sister of the Capitan Baltasar Baca. Three known children of this Francisco Chaves were the following:

1) Doña Maria Barbara Duran y Chaves, española of San Clemente, the daughter of Don Francisco Duran y Chaves and Doña Gertrudis Alvarez del Castillo, who in 1775 married a José Francisco Pino, español and twenty-five, but of parents unknown; five years later she was dead when Pino remarried in 1780, naming a Barbara Sanchez as his natural Mother. 2) María de la Luz Chaves, sixteen, of El Rancho de Guadalupe (in Los Chaves), daughter of Don Francisco Duran y Chaves and Doña Gertrudis Alvarez del Castillo, deceased, married Felipe de Jesús Varela in 1780; an español and twenty-six, he was the son of Pedro Varela and Casilda Gonzalez, deceased. 3) Baltasar de los Reyes Durán y Chaves, español of Los Chaves, the son of Francisco Durán y Chaves and María Gertrudis Alvarez del Castillo, deceased, in 1783 married María Gertrudis Romero of the same place, the daughter of Andrés Romero and Antonia Jaramillo, after they were duly dispensed as second and third cousins on both their parents' sides.

Francisco Duran Y Cháves and María Gertrudis Alvarez Del Castillo had the following children:

215 i. María Barbara⁷ Duran Y Chaves Doña⁽¹²⁶¹⁾ (living status unknown).

216 ii. Francisco Antonio Chávez⁽¹²⁶²⁾ (living status unknown).

217 iii. Margarita Chaves⁽¹²⁶³⁾ (living status unknown).

+ 136 iv. José Baltasar De Los Reyes Duran Y Chaves was born 1763.

218 v. María De La Luz Duran Y Chaves⁽¹²⁶⁴⁾ was born 1764.⁽¹²⁶⁵⁾
