Club Information: The Acord Mtn. Sportsman's Club (AMSC) was established on 20 December 1999 by Gary Acord/Club President. We have 800 acres of some of the best hunting in Southern West Virginia. Within the 800 acres are rolling mountains, hardwood trees, fields, water sources, and lots of game. The club is located just outside of Slab Fork, WV. The club borders Wyoming County which is known for its quantity of bucks due to its archery only season. However our club is a plus, it borders this archery only county but we are located in Raliegh County, which has rifle season available. We have nice deer herds, turkey flocks, and black bear on our club property. Our deer herds are growing rapidly due to our management skills. The turkey's are growing in numbers as well. We have had good hatches the past 2 years. We feature low cost memberships to accomodate your wallet while providing quality game. We currently have membership spots available. Gary Acord/Pres. will meet with all potential members before your allowed to join. He will also show you around the club premises upon request. Membership Fees: Are memberships run from July to July. Their is enough game available so let the small ones pass. NO buck may be taken less than 5 points total. NO jake turkeys may be taken. We will advise members on certain management deer or turkeys we deem necesary to be taken from thier herds or flocks. When this opportunity arises we will let members know. We will take names of any members interested in this hunt and draw names by a lottery system. This ensures we are being fair to all members. Food Plots: We provide several food plots on the property. Our food sources for game consist of natural apple orchards and acorn trees. We plant soy bean fields, winter wheat, buckwheat, sorghum, and biologic clover. We are experimenting with Mossy Oaks notorious biologic clover blend this season. We will update members on our success once we have statistics on growth of game. We started with 100-125 class bucks and have already produced 130-170 class bucks. We are going to continue our management plan to reach our goal of monster class bucks for our members. Lodging and Facilities: We do not have a lodge located on club grounds at this time. However we will do have a camper that can be rented for $20.00 a day, plus the cost of fuel you use. The camper can house up to 6 people. This is available on a first come first serve basis. We have a camp site available where your welcome to use campers and tents. Electricity hook up costs extra. We can also provide names of local hotels for your convienence. |
