The Cold War Essay
In the early 1950's, films on the subject of the Cold War were put into films. Before the Cold War films started to hit Hollywood, film producers took another step. They tried to produce anti-communism movies. These movies did very poorly at the box office. In making these movies, the producers had to be careful in making sure they did not make fun of any one who had fought in the war. According to CNN, "The western enjoyed a considerable revival as liberals used the 19th-century frontier for allegories on issues they could not treat elsewhere." Many people enjoyed these videos on the Cold War.
After World War II, the United States began to use rocket technology. In addition to rocket technology, the United States also began to look into space technology. In 1946, Germany produced a rocket that launched at White Sands, New Mexico. Many other countries, like Russia, started to become very competitive with the United States. The United States and Russia began showing off their Intercontinental ballistic missiles.
In 1954, Germany produced a new item called the Cigarette Weapon Case. This case could cover any weapon. According to CNN, "The device fired hollow-point bullets filled with poison through the false cigarettes at the opening of the case. " This weapon case was carried on spy's whenever they would spying. Also in 1934, a man by the name of Walter Zapp created a high resolution compact camera that could take close range photographs.
On July 16th 1945, the first man-made bomb exploded in the New Mexico desert. According to CNN, "Scientists knew about the atom's basic structure as early as the late 1800s. But only six years elapsed between the discovery of fission in 1939 and the destruction of Hiroshima by an atomic bomb." Scientists understood the terrible effects of these bombs. The "little boy" was dropped on Hiroshima and the "fat man" was dropped on Nagasaki.
