• Italy as center of ancient Roman Empire
• Survival of Italian City states through the middle ages (Without the Middle ages, we couldn’t of had the Renaissance)
• Italian Merchants become patrons of the arts (Art is going to become valuable) In the Renaissance the art is going to be more valiant and bright.
• Humanism: Study of the classics, Study of worldly subjects, Influential Humanist: Francesco Petrarch(The father of Humanism)
• Golden Age of the Arts: Learned from classical arts, Use of perspective, Renowned Artists: Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, Sofonisba Anguissola. Important writers: Castiglione, Machiavelli (Wrote the Prince).
• Northern Renaissance: Artists- Durer, Bruegel, Rubens
• Humanists: Erasmus, More
• Writers: Rabelais, Shakespeare, Cervantes (Make northern Renaissance contributions)
