Greg's Journal - August 5th, 2003 - Day 2

Wake up call @ 6AM and we were UP! Left the Doubletree about 7:15 (this is significant later) Shuttle to O'Hare, stepped into the airport and coined the phrase "Welcome to American Airlines, where you're instantly part of the problem!" Felt like a jet-set family - very cool. Had a couple of hours to wait, so we got breakfast (Cinnabon & McDonald's). Our plane was a Boeing 757 - pretty big. Got to San Juan about 3:45 EDT. Killed time in the San Juan airport playing UNO & exploring a little. Plane (smaller propeller plane) was supposed to leave @ 5:15 but had to burn a few hundred pounds of fule "cause we were overweight". Left @ 6:00. Got into Grenada about 8, had to go through customs & immigration - WAIT! FIRST, just walked off the plane onto the tarmac, walked through a hallway where we saw DAVE & GAIL!!! on top of the building. It is Carnival time in Grenada, so they gave us RUM PUNCH & soda as we entered the terminal. THEN customs & immigration. It is now 7:15 PM central time - 12 hours after we left the Doubletree! Got our first passport stamps. Got luggage & met Dave & Gail outside - yeah! Took minivan taxi to Spice Island marina & saw the FIVE SEASONS II - D&G's boat, our home for the next 8 days. We have arrived.
