Greg's Journal - August 6th, 2003 - Day 3

Woke up - light out - look out port hole - COOL. We were parked at the marina and saw a very green hill with cool houses on the side & top. Lucy and I walked along the docks and saw some crabs scurrying along the edge. Saw some cool little fish - the water is CLEAR. After we took the garbage to the marina's dumpster, filled the water tank & Dave paid the marina, we took off. Oh yeah, Gail made an awesome breakfast of scrambled eggs, croissants, pastries filled with CHOCOLATE, juice, raspberry and currant jams - very yummy! We motored out of Prickly Bay, around Prickly Point, past True Blue and Hartman bays to Hog Island. We find out on day 4 why it's called that. We dropped anchor, got in the dinghy and went to a beach on Hog I. There was a little shack there where a guy was selling drinks & some food. Gail packed a lunch which was yummy - she is awesome. We learned how to snorkel here, which was not the best view but a good place to learn. I can't believe we are here doing this and our kids are so cool and brave and this is just awesome. We went back to the boat - I swam, everybody else rode in the dinghy. We had tomato soup - mild or spicy (lots of curry) - some bread that a guy in a dinghy just came up to our boat and sold us, and brownies w/choc sauce & Breyers vanilla - OH YEAH! Dawn & Lucy and I slept on the net - the "trampoline" as Lucy & Madeline call it. Dawn only until the first sprinkle but Lucy & I made it until 6AM when it started raining a little harder. Madeline slept all night in the hammock on the back of the boat.
