Greg's Journal - August 11th, 2003 - Day 8

We SAILED today! After breakfast, we decided not to go back to Hog Island, so we set sail for somewhere up the coast. We hit what WE thought were big waves, but they were only about 2 ft. waves. Fun to ride on the front of the boat, though! I learned that tacking is turning into the wind, and when you are sailing into the wind, when the wind is coming from the left or port side of the boat, that's a port tack, right side is a starboard tack. Anyway, when we got to a bay where there was supposed to be good snorkeling, we anchored and dinghied to the beach, but it was no better than Hog Island. Cleaned some conch shells. Pulled up anchor, went 1 bay over and anchored there for the night. Went to a really nice restaurant that's been open about 4 months. Nice new building, very nice people and EXCELLENT, beautiful food prepared by the chef who was also very nice. We all talked about the fears we have faced on this trip. Dave and Gail are so cool.
