BERNARD LEE: This character was made the head of MI6 from Dr. No until For Your Eyes Only. M always had the appearance of an old, hardhearted man. To Bond however, he seemed to be almost a fatherly figure, and put up with his unconventional methods of carrying out missions. M knew Bond's skill and trusted only him on very dangerous assignments. Universal Exports, the disguised office of M, is where most of Bond's briefing occurred in the movies. M's office, often a haven for Bond was decorated in a naval theme, which insinuated his long-term naval career. M had habits that included, but were not limited to smoking a pipe and Entomology |

ROBERT BROWN: Admiral Hargreaves replaced Admiral Sir Miles Messervey would continue to be M beginning with the Bond movie, Octopussy.
