Interview with Pedro Martins - The Creater of Guano Apes Official Fanclub

1)How did your love for Guano Apes started?
Very Hard Question!!I don't know well. My Love?My really Love started when imeet they because they are persons absolutely kind, down to earth andhonest. Musically I love they since i listened Open Your Eyes, Bought theAlbum and went to the first gig...until now i went to 6 gigs of Guano Apes:-)

2)Which was your 1st impression when you saw Apes on Tv for the 1st time,do you remember that?
Yeah, i remember very well!!I thought" WOW, This Bandis Great!!I've to Buy this Album!!"

3)You created Guano Apes Oficial fanclub, how did this idea developed?
Yeah, was me the ideia and i created the fanclub, i think this idea appearafter the Magic Night In their Sudoeste's Gig.

4)You have to work  a lot in the fanclu how it is to divide your timebetween it and you family,friends,University,..?
My family and My True Friends are my priority definetely! In The UniversityTimes is hard to organize Many Stuff in the fanclub. Per Instance OrganizedThe Flag, Explain Everything to the manager, tourmanager of Apes, askauthorizations to the Portuguese Promotor of The Apes to let use the flagwas tremendous difficult to do in the times of the university, coseverything had to be very well organized and all us worked together tohandle and resolve problems of logistic, Security, Solutions and many morestuff. Was Defintely Something that ask many of me, but in the endeverything worked well. But in General i try to the fanclub be my Hobby, butof course a Responsable Hobby that all weeks i've spend time.

5)Do your friends & family understand and support you with this work? yes!

6)Which are the main projects of the fanclub?
Promote the Guano Apes in Allthe World. The Band Gives the Feedback to the fans,Merchandising,Maybe afanzine soon. All Members also have access to the Mailing List of thefanclub, where they will know all of the band, fanclub, as well have thechance to meet fans of Guano Apes by e-mail, letters or in the meetings ofThe Club before the Guano Apes Gigs. We Also Organize Lunches and Dinners! In One Sentence we do our Very Best for the Band and to the fans!

7)How to join the club?
We're Thinking about limited the Club and make aquestionnair to the persons that want join, but right now the persons thatwant join just have to send a mail to the mailbox of the fanclub with hername, full adress, birth date(the Limit is 14 years old),cell phonenumber)and the e-mail to be included in the mailing list.

8)Which is right now the number of its members? More or less 120.

9)What's your Guano Apes fa. song? Why?
I've 2 favorite Songs of GA:Innocent Greed and Open Your Eyes! But i love all the other songs of GuanoApes.Innocent Greed for me is the song that could be compared to the Soundof Guano Apes: Agressive, Soft, a Big Rythmic Change and The Lyric have aspecial meaning to me! Open Your Eyes is very special cos was the first songi listened of the Apes.

10)Tell me a part of a song which you identify yourself with.
All theInnocent Greed Lyric!

11)What is for you a TRUE fan?
A True Apes fan is a Fan that Really likethe Band, Specially respect They as Persons and Only Next their music. Is also a Person That is Honest to His Own or then his feelings can't behonest! Is also a fan that try to understand the lyrics of the band.Per Instance a UNtrue fan is a Person that first say is a big fan,put onlinea site for the fanclub, then ask money for the website of the fanclub tokeep be used for the fanclub, then ask us backstage passes to his friends,is constantly saying his the best fan of the World, is also constantlysayling lies and slandering about another fans and desrespect persons thatsince always made all his very best for the fanclub, band, telling perinstance that I Put in the Backtage  List only my friends instead him...Is Funny cos The 5 names for Backtage List for the last gig of the Apes inPortugal were JUST the 5 persons that worked more in the Flag be reality andnot a dream! Like i said i can't give a backtage pass to him and took one toa person that worked so much he tried to split the fans creating anotherfanclub of the Apes, and thinking is the only smart person in the worldwritting anonymous messages against the fanclub just cos he think all theothers are dumb and stupid and can't know that was him or not that write themessages. Not all Persons Are Maniacs!!!and like the song says "Cuts, I'mnot a Maniac...Cuts, I'm Not a Maniac(...)!"

12)Give me an exemple.
Susana Oliveira! She is a GREAT Guano Apes Apesfan!!

13)There is lots of fans on-line with webpages of Guano Apes any especial preference for any site?
Of Course!!I Think is a hard choice but my favouritesites are of the fanclub, of Nayla, of Sylvie ,the Sandra Nasic of Marc,OfMark, of Lee. But the Best Website anybody made until today for the Apes ithink Was the Site of Dennis VP from Belgium. I've a Special preference forthis site of course too! but the official Site of Guano Apes is Really GREAT!!!

14)Describe Guano Apes in a word as a band: Awesome

15)Describe Guano Apes in a word as people: Down to Earth

16)Tell me more about the huge flag Guano Apes Received in "Marés Vivas"Festival, never a band were received like this...
Well, was Huge Flagof 300 meters, Inside was Saying "In Portugal You'll Never be Living in aLie, we Love you 4ever", Since March i was Working on this Huge Flag, andonly One Week before the Gig everything was prepared so was definetely atremendous effort some persons  made and i'm very proud of what we made coswas Unique in The World and the reaction of the Apes moved me a lot :-)In The Gig We Used The  flag Before Living in a Lie(I knew The Playlist),everything was organized between me, management of The Guano Apes,Promotor of The Gig and Securities, so before Living in a lie westarted Rolling Out the Flag Until The Band could read the message insidethe huge message. The Audience Was under The Flag and then me and thesecurites fixed the flag and after the band could read the message we pulledthe flag:-)Everything Worked as Planned!!

17)You played with Guano Apes in that Festival, could you imagine what will go next when Sandra called you to the stage?
No idea!!When Sandra called me onstage me i've no Idea about what will happen next. I Was Very Nervous, cosbe on stage jumping and singing with my favourite band in front so many pplwas definetely something i never dreamed and happened in reality. Today istill have difficulty to express what i felt in that moments:-)

18)What was the worst new you receive/or you could receive of GuanoApes?
The worst  new i received was definetely the Bomb Threat in the Lisbon Gig of october 2000. In The Future i Hope Nothing bad happen to they, wishall  good for they!

19)Guano Apes are recording the 3rd album,do you have any suggestion forits title?
Yeah, i've One: "Blind"

20)Guano Apes also are thinking about a live album,i don't have to ask youto know that you'll love the idea of that album be recorded in Portugal, butwhich place(festival,room..)Will you sugest to this recording?
For me ilove the idea but  For me is where they will record The Live Album!I Don'tHave Any Doubt About that! Is hard chose a place cos with my choice not allthe Portuguese Guano Apes fans will like it, but Attending was The Place isaw the All Audience totally Euphoric(But really totally!), for me i suggestThe Coliseum of Lisbon.

21)As everyboby knows Guano Apes has a special relationship with Portugaldo you think there is any special reason for that?
A reason? Do you know anyfans in the World that without Sponsors, payed, made, organized a Flag of300 meters saying "In Portugal You'll Never be Living in a Lie, We Love you4ever!". I think is a Very Good reason the persons could understand whyPortugal is so special for Guano Apes.

22)Which award would you like to deliver to Guano Apes with your ownhands?
10 Platiums in The USA would be fucking amazing :-)

23)Which bands do you like appart from "Your Lords"?
Right Now i'mListening System of a Down! The New Album Kicks Ass!I also Like very Much TheOffspring,Linkin Park, Creed and many others bands!

24)How do you react when people say things like: "Every bands say thatthey love Portugal when they come here"..and stuff like that?
It's true! Somebands we know they say that just cos is typic and is good for the ego of theaudience, but i'm Sure the Apes don't say this just is typic but cos is whatthey really Felt about portugal and their portuguese fans!

25)If Guano Apes invited you to re-record a song with them which will you choose?
Well, this is impossible to happen, so i think chose a song is completely unrelevant.
