Southold, L.I., N.Y., Tanktiyas Hollow near Hidden Lake, 2/25/03 (49kb).  This recording although scratchy after filtering for wind and the loud roar of waves is a good illustration of the contact notes between a male Titmouse and his female that have already paired for spring.  The large family flocks formed in the Fall have split up and the birds have paired off.  The highest notes are the female.  The male sings two notes, three notes, then two again on the same pitch.  He is dueting with another male also traveling with his mate just ahead of him in the woods.      wave688
