In the forests of Chiapas, Mexico, in Guatemala, in Belize and Honduras lives this guacamaya. In recent years, a great amount of these birds has disappeared because of its illegal traffic. A dealer of birds takes of contraband from Mexico to the United States at least 2 thousand 500 birds drugged hidden in corks of rim, brassieres, strips, tubes for hair and many other containers in only two years.
