Hmm... it appears that the site views get forgotten after so long as otherwise I've had -230 views in the past 3 weeks. Something tells me that that is rather difficult to accomplish. So I'm back from vacation and all that. Have to sort through 200 pictures and find like 5 that could fit in my space here to show everyone. Europe was really neat. Have to go back. Will go back, especially after throwing the coin into the Trevi Fountain. Lets see now. Tommorrow is a good friend's birthday. And two days after that, both my mom and my best friend both have a birthday, which means that I will not be able to celebrate my friend's birthdays on time. Have to wait until everything scheduled around here is done with, then can go wish a belated happy birthday. On a further note, apparently no one cares how I set up my comments and so that polling test is an absolute failure. Thats it. Oh and further tests show, that the site statistics are totally screwed up. Refreshing the page shows a different number as some pages claim to now never be seen and others collect 200 hits in the time between refreshes.

Wow. 456 page views since my last set of comments. For some reason people are reading the For All Time series that I placed here. I feel like I've possibly accomplished something, though it was just a minor operation of me creating this as an archive of the many separate posts. And these are only the originals, there was further discussion on soc.his.what-if providing changes and updates, but I was trying to follow along and have something to read on a business trip last summer. Besides that I'll be taking my vacation soon, so I may have to finally replace my last vacation web page. I'm not really sure if I'll be able to create a new one while on the trip like I did last year. Of course, I'll have lots of pictures that will never fit in my limited space that is here. Last of all, I'd like to conduct a poll, but since I'm unsure about what I can actually accomplish with this service, I think I'll just create little web pages and let the result be tallied by web views. So I'd like to know whether I should keep this page with all of its comments or set it up with each comment on a new page or leave them all on this one page?
Plus its a small poll of people who actually read / interact with this page and not just looking for something and following a pointless link. Thanks! :)

Wow, over a year of comments, well not exactly, as I continue to be deliquent in updating anything. Maybe if I got feedback or something. I did recieve one email, but I responded poorly to it.... A birthday has passed and the semester is over. Everything I was juggling got mistossed and created a nice mess. I'll recover in the fall, but its still increadibly annoying. I still think there is a lot I want to say, but as I get more visitors I begin to wonder exactly what I really want to say. So first, I am annoyed that rarely anyone is online these days. The people I want to talk to are never around, which is a real difficulty as when I decide that I want to spend time for some reason. I will spend time for that reason, it just may take me a little while for the reason to come about. Especially (almost wrote it with an `x') difficult when I can't actually make any progress on what I was going to spend time doing. Like when the computer crashes when you have an hour to play games, what do you then? A side annoyance is now emacs doesn't want to format my java code, so the stuff I was going to write may be postponned. Little things like this that take all of the satisfaction from starting into a simple project. Of course, this summer is now just full of little projects maybe I should go update some other parts of the site....

Oh I forgot to mention in earlier comments, I am represented by Chrono. This past weekend did not proceed in the most straight forward of manners, I had hoped that some work would really have been accomplished; however, one thing led to another which led to another and so on. Suddenly, the weekend was gone and I was already short on sleep in starting the last week of classes. Not only that, but not everything has been resolved. A good deal closer now, but. Maybe it'll all make sense someday. Everything will be all ok. Sleep will be regular. Classes interesting and challenging with out actually trying to kill anyone with difficulties. But not right now.............

Well not as good this month. I wish I was more regular.... Anyways, its almost Spring Carnival and its 5:30 am, I hope to sleep after I finish my shift. Oh and BUGGY! Buggy is one of those things that is an incredibly bad idea up til the minute it starts, then its fun. Just any night before is terrible, thinking about waking at 4 later the coming morning. You think, "Oh they won't need me, I'll just get a nice 9 hours of sleep." Its almost been a year since I first began these comments. I still remember the rambling rant that I went on at that time. And then how search engines don't properly read it in.

Wow. I did not plan it this way, but it just so happens that I am writing this a month after my previous addition. Quenya still matters and I continue to study it, though in no hurry. Melin macil. :) Again with the class and FH all => boring. Trying to find a sprite to represent myself. The one I thought of is being claimed by another, so I must still search. I've also decided on some principles of programming. For me to follow. I had to defend myself as I refused to make some changes to what I wrote as everyone knew that it would not be an improvement, even if we were supposed to make changes regardless of benefit they provide. Idea being to look into what else changes further along the line, from the source itself. Last of all, I am sad that there have been no new posts about FaT (For all Time).

Its 20/02 2002, not that that matters. So many different number things which people like to look to and try to find order within their life. Like September 11, its 911! Quenya and LotR is what matters, well besides the glorious (alcarinqua) pile of school work. Now, I am collecting projects once again, yet I think they are different than the ones that I have on my info page. I guess I should go change that... I'd say done here, but I am just still typing. Life is being made more confusing, though I shall drive through it with my shinny optimism and mellow views. Though sleep may decide to strike me down and I'm sure that somewhere out there, my logic class is stalking me and hopes to get me too. Class.FH = boring, but I'm sure no one understands that statement :)

Well its the New Year and it finally snowed. I can now take pictures so Snow and More snow. Just a note of warning, these are not exactly small files, I like my high quality pictures but someday I may actually make some smaller ones of any good pictures I've done. The only problem with the digital camera is that I've yet to get it to work with my laptop, which is only running linux therefore I'll be putting a very small install of 98 on it in about a week after I've had a chance to backup everything. Til later...

Now that finals are over with, I can relax and waste a insane amount of time by playing games. Mmmm... games. Also I am done with Bab 5, well so I finished with 4th season and am unsure whether I will be able to watch the remaining season. Outside of that, I will be seeing Fellowship of the Ring in about 2 hrs with the same group (yet smaller) that I saw Sorceror's Stone. I think that movie could have been a little better. For more plugs, I enjoyed playing Starfarer's of Cataan, but have not yet won. Kosh is cool, long live Kosh. And "death the great stress reliever..." I always wonder whether I should post to soc.history.what-if about the For All Time collection that I've made... Anyways now I will give my friend's laptop back to her and maybe when she has a links page I will put my link to her page back again, but I like teasing her by removing it....

Did you know that this page can be found on google by searching for "c sucks"? That really annoys me, I mean it may be neat to be found in a search engine, but not for something absolutely contrary to my views. Its because I said "C# sucks." And the engine found most of that. *Shrug* So now I am all into Bab 5. Kosh is so cool. That and the vorlon fleet is really neat. I am all for space battles, so when the nice one in 3rd season occured, I was off doing other things so I had to watch it at a later time. *sigh* I'm hungry and I appologize to any reader that I may still have. My coherent rantings have fallen to a monthly journal....

Early in the Day... This week has been really weird. One can especially say this if anyone remembers many months from now that earlier this week, some airplanes met some buildings, which resulted in many unfortuneate deaths. The greatest loss in the end is the "innocence." We haven't been touched in such a great amount by the actions of others until now. We were the safe haven. The place of solitude that can watch others and remain untouched. If we want to join the world in action, we would send ourselves elsewhere and "fight" whatever we "encounter" in their backyard. Still even for this loss of both life and security, in the end the greatest message that we could send would be just to rebuild and move on. Treat the people who did this the same way that we would treat anyother criminals. To justice they can go, we may have to hurt the safe havens, but we shouldn't resort to such disporpotiante responses. We could show that they haven't provoked the blundering giant to commiting rash actions. But now I must go...

Stats class. Hah! 212 teaches me induction, was this the third time or the 4th? I needed more sleep. Thanks to talking to friends until the wee hours plus switching to a different class which is much earlier than any other of mine. I have now been awake for 7 hrs and slept for 3. I'll do better, I promise.
I am now into Kenshin. This doesn't mean I am going to make a fan site or anything like that. Just I want a sword and also to learn kenjutsu. Only the surronding area doesn't have any dojos, at least any that I can find. That makes me sad. Oh well, class will be over in a half hour so I'd better pay attention. *wink* *wink*

Wireless :). That I have so now I can be online for my entire time while on campus, so yeah. Though, I still don't have a DSL connection but I can deal with that loss as I can just be doing everything outside of my room. Except for some bit of stupid things that requires Windoze. *sigh* Back to class.

I sit back again today, just typing. I just have to write more comments to those who read this. Once again I wish I had some way of knowing the number of unique connections I get, but that just isn't avaible right now. My graphics card went out last weekend, I was worried some what, but once I got the replacement. Everything went fine. I also made some changes to this collection of web pages. Updated some things, deleted a few files, and counted the statistics.

As I sit back and let the 2.4.7 kernel release download, I still try to wonder why ever other of my kernel compiles haven't turned out perfectly. Oh well, its a question I'll leave to philosophers and fortuneately I haven't finished any Philosohy major so I'm safe, for now. I really hate the site statistics, I mean how am I supposed to test the page to make sure all visual elements work without visiting it myself and so the numbers get skewed to the high side, but I do my best so that you, my loyal readers, can get the most accurate news possible. As an interesting fact, M$ that enemy of the state released a commercial in Switzerland that could be taken to suggest that by using WinXP it is easier to disrobe a girl. Should this be true, then the entire Linux / Open Source / etc movement is doomed to failure and I might as well curl up into a little ball and await WinXP and the end of decent computing everywhere. There is also the coming horror of a product called Hailstorm, where induhviduals pay M$ to store their personal information so that other buisnesses can access it. This thought does not help me sleep at night. :(

Comments comments comments. Thoughts critisms and misc rants.... So as I said below no more ME, its all linux. Last night I got to compile my first kernel. That didn't work the best, but I've found the solution, which means I get to cruise to Florida with a laptop and a pile of books. Only two things could improve this, a car adapter for the laptop or a gf. Well, I'll just have to do without.
Disney World, I've been there just a few times. At last count, I couldn't remember them all but I'd half to say more than 5, which is too many in under 20 years. Hopefully, I can write some more for you my devoted reader(s), I never know how many different people visit, just how many. Last time I was there, they had a internet connection at Epcott, which was nice when my hometown was hit my tornados while down there. This will be interesting now that I am an adult so I will be able to do more at "downtown disney."
So looking back, yea hacking, but not HACKING. Fun to modify your own code but not so code to play with other people's work. I will enjoy my laptop and the chance to play with code that is much more involved than anything I've done.

These comments are written on my newest toy, my laptop, which is a nice Dell Inspiron 2100. So this is my last day and only 2nd day using Windows ME. I also got to burn my first cd, which was a new release of Linux. I can't wait to install it.
I am also at this time working at a nice company for the third year in a row. I wonder why I write this, but I guess its my chance to journal. As its not ofter that I / guys in general use a diary, but such a over used medium such as the web gives us a chance to release. I still hope for the summer to pass quickly as I can't wait to be able to spend time with my friends, even if we have to be at school.

To begin to put this in perspective, I will write all of these opinions using notepad in about a half hour. And only taking that long as I must decide, which things will be the best to go off on a tangent babling about.
I do not like the way most web pages are created. I think it is great if someone has to sit down and write out all of the lines for the web page, just like any other "program" is created. HTML is easy enough without simplifing it so that you can sit in word and type basic text and get a web page. There is also the problem that any web page created word or someother Micro$oft will take up much more space than needed. No extra comments for me thank you. I don't need to explain to others how I wrote this page, and this is HTML which is a really easy language for all of 5 people out there that even count it as a language. It is like BASIC, everyone learns it and it doesn't matter. If someone wants to learn it, they should go surfing for two things. One, there are bound to be sites showing how to write HTML and two, view the source to some pages and learn how the pages are written. I actually learned a nice idea which I use, tables. Well, more than just tables in general, but using tables to order pieces of text like these comments or the links on the home page. Anyways, too many people are making HTML out to be a much harder thing than it is. Of course, I am working on a degree in Computer Science so to me writing in HTML is kind of like just doing a finger exercise.
*sip of drink* | ||
When you rant, you need to take sips of something so that you don't hurt yourself.
When someone rants, they don't make sense. And just because this is a web page instead of me in person, don't expect anything more. The only things I am going back for, are typos. Else the text keeps coming.
Just thinking of programming languages, two more that really annoy me, Visual Basic and C#. Visual Basic was one I began to learn long ago, back when I was young and it was version 3. At the time it was nice to create a window and have a menu and some buttons and so on, but no more. I want my menu by coding it through a good language like c++. I think the biggest thing that annoys me is when nonprogrammers (as opposed to people who can barely program like me, of course, this is from the point of view that I can program when I have a BS in CS) talk about programming and creating something "neat" with a simple "language" like VB or Basic or HTML (see above rant) and they are impressed with what they can do. Try something harder! I can't wait to get beaten senseless trying to learn SML, a function programming language. It sounds like fun. Of course, I am told that there are people who don't like to learn hard things and that I should consider myself lucky that some things come easy to me. Well, you know what. I do think I am lucky, but what else, unfortuneately people like me can't always fully understand what it means to not get something on the first pass, well sometimes I don't get it but usually because I fell asleep. An awfully bad thing that I have a habit of doing in any class that starts before noon. It takes me 3 hours to wake up regardless of when I do. Back to "languages," people should learn something hard because it is something hard and not always if it is going to be useful. Of course, I may be accused of being a hypocrite as there is no way that I am going anywhere near taking any more English classes in college, one semester is enough. Well, if in a class I can try my hardest and get a B or not try at all and still get a B. I think there can be only one conclusion.... Oh yeah, I forgot to say C# sucks (*GASP*). From what I have heard, never encountered as rumors are too close for me, it would be Micro$oft's answer to Java, which isn't that good of a language either. Yep, I am a c++ hacker (well in the sense that I like writing a bunch of code in one quick swoop without planning and not caring about comments), not a Java weenie.
In case anyone cares (all 3 of you who may one day read this), most rants that I will get on will involve computers as they are a large part of my life and I have to deal with them each and everyday, plus trying to go on a rant will usually involve nearby objects and as I sit on a computer, so does the rant. (like that even tried to make sense)
Now, on the counter side, I am a nature person. I like the outdoors and if I am not in some stupid class or using a computer I try to go outside, or the weather is bad. (I thought someone was going to fix the leaks in the big blue room). It is interesting to sit and watch animals as they go about their lives and you have to consider what ancievements have brought the human race to a level of existance where I can sit and type at 2 am on a Monday and somewhere someone else will randomly come upon the set of characters that I entered and gain meaning from it. If this occurs, then there is the possiblity that the race as a whole has profited from one person's work that has been set down and distributed amoung others. This began to occur with great frequency after the printing press, no longer were works copied by hand, instead they could be printed "quickly" and read by others such that the opinions of one could be disseminated (I was trying to think of this earlier) amoung many populations and all will soon profit. Now, when I say profit, I don't always mean monetarily. I am wierd, my profit is from the increase in knowledge and understanding, which to me is a greater concern that something like money. Maybe thats why I attend a private college and just about taking fully loaded schedules, its all enjoyable learning (except math, which is boring and english, which is annoying), and I want some more. |
