8 Weeks Early

8 weeks early
not yet time to come
but decision is made
that she has to meet mum.
Ony little weighing
in at 1506grams
she has very tiny feet
and miniature hands.
She is so tiny to hold
scared she might break
seeing her lie there
just makes the heart ache.
she is on oxygen
to help her breathe
she has to be so strong
before she can leave
She is strong willed
that she will do it all
she will knock down that barrier
of the brick wall.
She learns to breathe
all on her own
she learns to breastfeed
after once being shown.
She makes it to about 4 pound
and if she keeps feeding and growing
going home will be allowed.
So determined as she is
she does everything right
she is now allowed to leave
and will be at her own house to sleep the next night
We bath her and dress her
and rug her up tight
we are taking her home
that is the end of her fight.

This poem is very touching and beautiful about the birth of a new baby....even prematurely.
The love and care, and all the emotions felt for such a tiny and beautiful creation, and
the joy of finally taking her home.
Thank you, Melinda, for sharing it with me.
