Fatal Destiny

author's note:
This was not based on my personal experience,
but it has happened too many times to others.
Please love yourself and take care of yourself.

Once upon a time there was a man.
But he couldn't live the way others can
This man had something you and I couldn't see.
This man was sick. He had HIV.
To look at this man, you'd think he was nice.
I fell in love with him, not thinking twice.
Never aware of the dangers within.
He was fighting a battle he thought he could win.
This man never told me he had this disease.
He again and again made promises in the breeze.
Our life together was beautiful but brief.
When he died I expressed sorrow and grief.
Soon however, I began to feel ill.
My body was weak, as was my will.
I went to my doctor and he said to me,
"I'm sorry to say this but you have HIV."
I couldn't believe it, I started to cry.
"What happens now, amd I going to die?"
He calmed me down and I went home.
I didn't come to the door or answer the phone.
The past few months have been a living hell.
My health is failing and I'm not feeling well.
I still can't believe I have HIV.
I still can't believe it happened to me.

I saw this poem on Brandy's site and loved it!
It is very powerful, and true of today's society.  It is sad, but a very moving piece.
