Poet's Dust

Before the world and time could be
God paused to check His list
And in the dawn - before the Light
I wonder - what we missed

He saw the world - as it would be
Sunrise - sunsets and streams
He saw the spot where friends would meet
And then - He must have dreamed

With all the beauty in the world
None could express His heart
And so He took a part of His
And formed - the Poet's dust

He painted some upon the shores
Where new days - just begin
He tossed some in the skies above
For all the world to see

He fashioned dust into the form
Of friendship - sharing hearts
And then He took the greatest care
And did the final part

He took the finest dust from in -
The middle of His heart
He covered over Poet's eyes
With Love and Poetry

So all the world a Poet sees
Is covered not with Light
But rather shaded with a part
Of God's most tender heart
