Rose on a Wet Day

As I walked one rainy day
I spied a rose in bloom.
It chased away from inside of me
All unhappiness and gloom.

I stood and stared at the beauty
Of that single flower,
And marvelled that such beauty
Could hold me in it's power.

The raindrops sitting on its petals
Enhanced this lovely sight,
And its soft sweet fragrance
Filled me with delight.

Its half unfolded bloom
Was wonderful to behold.
Its petals were a lovely shade
Of red, with a sheen of gold.

I stood there just looking
For what seemed an eternity,
And felt as though that lovely flower
Had been put there just for me.

Then with regret I turned around
And continued on my way,
And thanked Lord God for showing me
Beauty, on a cold grey day.

"The beauty of this poem is the way Kristin describes the beauty in a simple thing like a flower.   How God's beauty is all around us everywhere we look!   I could not have stated it better myself.   Even in our darkest times, God will show us beauty and magnificence in the simplest things.   And then we see the wonderment in His creation!  We do not need to worry, for God who is our Creator has everything in hand.   By showing us that there is beauty in life, even in the simplest things, God is telling us that He has everything in control.   Thank you for sharing this, Kristin."
