Absolute Colin Farrell News

Dark Horizons got a report from the set in Washington D.C. recently.
"I just got back from Washington DC. Yesterday, I saw them filming a three minute scene from the upcoming movie "The Farm" starring Al Pacino and Colin Farrell. The movie was being filmed on Seventh Street between the Air & Space Museum and the L'Enfant Metro Station entrance. The scene being filmed was a three minute scene of Al Pacino behind the wheel of a standard unmarked government car. The street was blocked in several directions, and I initially thought it was due to security like everything else in Washington these days. When talking to the crew, they said that the city had been surprisingly supportive of them, especially when the traffic and road closures around the monuments had congested traffic, and now the filming needed them to close even more streets. They filmed for several hours out there, and were trying to rush and get the scene completed before the sun set. The crew said that the movie is supposed to be released this fall. They also said that there are about five more days of shooting on location in the DC area."

Farrell is London Film Critics best newcomer
The Irish actor Colin Farrell was named British Newcomer of the year for his role in the film 'Tigerland' at last night's London Film Critics Circle awards ceremony.
The 25-year-old Dubliner won last year's Boston Society of Film Critics Best Actor Award for the film, the success of which has reportedly earned him a price tag of $2.5m per picture.

Colin Farrell is Hollywood's busiest Actor...
According to reports Irish actor Colin Farrell has already begun shooting a $60m film alongside Ben Affleck after completing a string of big Hollywood blockbusters.
Dublin born Farrell will play the evil character of Bullseye, in the remake of comic hero Daredevil.
Affleck will play the crimefighting Daredevil.
This is Farrell's latest in a series of blockbuster movies with top name stars. He has just completed filming a thriller called The Farm, with Al Pacino.
Expected to join the Hollywood A-list with his four major releases this year, it was a shaky start for the 26 year-old actor. His first major movie, Tigerland, was not released in Ireland and went straight to video (although critically acclaimed).
All is set to change though. Starring opposite Bruce Willis in the World War II movie Harts War, ShowBizIreland.com can reveal that the young actor makes a commendable performance.
Due for release in Ireland on the 24th of April, the story tells of the struggle of U.S. military men held as prisoners in a Nazi concentration camp.
Also in the pipeline for Farrell is the Stephen Speilberg thriller Minority Report and Joel Schumacher's thriller Phone Booth.
Meanwhile, the successful Dublin hunk is due home to shoot a small part in Chasing the Dragon, the upcoming film about crime journalist Veronica Guerin, alongside Cate Blanchett.
Daredevil is due for release in America on the 17th January 2003.

By JAM! Music
Prairie rockers Wide Mouth Mason will be sharing screen time with Al Pacino in the upcoming film "The Farm."
The spy thriller, which recently wrapped shooting in Toronto, stars Pacino and fast-rising newcomer Colin Farrell. Wide Mouth Mason shot two scenes in January at the Toronto-area bar Nashville North.
WMM performed their song "Change" (from the group's CD "Stew") and "Reconsider," which is intended for a new album the band is recording for release this summer.
"The Farm" is scheduled in theatres for October. The film is directed by Roger Donaldson ("No Way Out," "Cocktail"). It is reportedly loosely based on the case of a double agent who was caught working at the CIA's training facility in Camp Peary, Virginia, known as The Farm.

Schumacher confirms Farrell role...
Ireland's Colin Farrell is to take a small cameo role beside Cate Blanchett in the new Bruckheimer/Schumacher movie Chasing the Dragon, the Veronica Guerin Story, ShowBizIreland.com can reveal.
Speaking in Dublin late on Sunday the director Joel Schumacher confirmed Farrell would team up with him again in he movie. "Yes, Colin will have a small cameo role in the film. He is due back in April to do his scenes." Farrell has previously starred in Schumacher movies Tigerland and Phone Booth.
The director continued on about how he first heard about the subject of his current film Veronica Guerin.
"I did not know about Veronica until Jerry offered me this film and I said yes after only reading the script half way because there was a 60 minutes show that came with the script. She is really a heroine in the classic sense of the word as she is a complex individual. She was not a Saint. She was a real human being. She is a real flesh and blood person and brilliant women. She is one of those people who did the things we which we wish we could do and she paid the price. I admire her so much."
Jerry Bruckheimer is one of Hollywood's most powerful men. He has in the past made films such as Con Air, The Rock, Top Gun, Black Hawk Down and Enemy of the State. This is his first film and his first time in Ireland. So is he planning to come back again for some more movies?
"We are already developing a project to bring a movie in here called King Arthur later this year. It's a retelling of the tale. It actually happened much earlier than movies in the past or the English have put on it. They changed the way it was told. Like Arthur was really Roman and the Knights of the round table were actually Russian and were great horse men."
How did you decide about the Veronica story? "I personally like to tell stories about people who made a difference in the world and those who are role models for future generations. Like this lady changed things in Ireland and the way people thought about drugs. We want other generations to know about her and even though she was well known here she was not well known around the world."

Ireland's Colin Farrell is to take on the war on terror with the help of Bruce Willis this week when their new film Hart's War gets a special screening in Afghanistan.
The movie shows Colin as a former law student who gets captured during World War 2 and is then asked to defend a black prisoner falsely accused of murder.
The film is set for release in Hollywood on February 15th and is the first of four huge movies Colin has made in the last year. All are to be released in 2002.
Hart's War was flown out to the war torn region this week to be shown alongside a special message by Willis for the US troops.
A close friend of Colin in Dublin said, " Colin plays a pretty heroic character, so it is a movie that is bound to go down well with the military. The idea of sending the movie to the US forces in a war zone must give them a lift and Colin was delighted when he was told the troops were to be the first to see the movie."

Farrell targets ``Daredevil''
By Tim Swanson
HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Colin Farrell (``Tigerland'') has hit the mark with ``Daredevil,'' an actioner based on the Marvel Comics superhero saga.
The Irish-born actor is zeroing in on the role of master marksman Bullseye, the nemesis of blind lawyer and martial artist Daredevil (Ben Affleck).
Budgeted at around $50 million, the 20th Century Fox picture is scheduled to shoot next year with Mark Steven Johnson (``Simon Birch'') directing. Comic book legend Stan Lee will serve as an executive producer.
This isn't the first time Farrell has been mentioned in conjunction with the picture -- his name was bandied about as a potential lead before Affleck signed on for the role of Matt Murdock last October.
Farrell, who recently appeared in Warner Bros.' ``American Outlaws,'' has four pictures scheduled to bow next year: MGM's ``Hart's War,'' Disney's ``The Farm'' and Fox's ``Phone Booth'' and ``Minority Report.''

Farrell may be Chasing the Dragon...
Irish actor Colin Farrell may be in line for another run-in with Joel Schumacher when he begins casting for Chasing the Dragon - the Veronica Guerin Story.
Schumacher is already considered the catalyst in Farrell's career having casted him as an unknown in the critically acclaimed Tigerland and later in the yet to be released Phone Booth.
Farrell is in Dublin at present keeping a low profile after divorcing from his wife Amelia Warner of four months.
It is slated in the Irish press that if indeed Farrell and Schumacher's paths do cross in Dublin then he would most likely be up for the part of John Traynor, the exiled drug informer.
